Anyone ever hunt there? I just got the email from the hunt manager for the archery hunt this month. At the end of it he states "Exotics may include pigs, axis, aoudad, red stag or fallow." Any idea how prevalent those exotics are out there? I would love a shot at a red deer or fallow. I'm just assuming they're a very long shot.

Can't help you out on the info but i was drawn for the Feb doe/spike hunt and am curious about the exotics as well. When is your hunt? I've never been there and have no idea what to expect.

Always wanted to hunt this location. Seems like there is/was a rcc'd caliber minimum but you need to check that out for sure before you get there. I'd call 'em and ask a hunnert or 2 ??'s. S'posed to be super good for exotics. Keep us posted.

I'm on the archery hunt October 19-22. Get back in touch and I'll try and give you as much info as I can afterwards. The good news is the email I got from the hunt manager says they start baiting a week in advance of your arrival, but you need to bring corn to bait while your there.

I did this hunt a few years ago. Things may have changed but when I was there, there were very few exotics. An axis doe and her fawns were hanging out by the camping/picnic area but no one else saw anything but whitetail and hogs. It was still a fun hunt though. I'd love to get drawn again. If it's the same guy running the hunt, I think his name was Gary, he's a real cool cat that was friendly and very helpful.

Been there a few times but only ever saw whitetails.

Hmmm .... Not plentiful with Exotic'??? Back when this locations hunts were run out of a newspaper print kinda annual magazine seems like they always listed EXO's on the menu and had more than just Axis to choose from.
Good to Know since I am determined to score some axis somewhere before I put the rifles away for good in the next couple years. ? Still drive the hunters to their blinds?

Hunted it two years ago. Neighbors high fenced in and cut off the exotic flow into the park.

WFJr...thanks for that update on the fencing by the neighbors. Too bad too. Back those days I always put in for Enchanted Rock but like several high traffic locations I never got drawn. Lotsa Years ago I got drawn for South Llano River SP had a great trip and now have 21 LP's trying to win that location again. Drove the BH thru the low water river crossing @ SLR SP couple years later after hunting a ranch east of the Blue Hole, south of Telephone, and we still talk about that experience from time to time.
OH Well....I guess the BH and I will put the Rock on the list places to go see for an afternoon in the summertime next time we are in the Hill Country...still trying to get her to see Lost Maples and LBJ's ranch 25 years later.

Well the hunt master said today that there are a few large groups of Aoudad running around. A decent number of axis. A couple Mouflon. And a whole lot of small hill country white tails. He said last year 20 hunters got 15 deer, 15 hogs and an Aoudad I believe. We will see what happens over the next couple of days.

T Beer...that sounds very promising based on the success #'s listed in the various Hill Country locations I studied of last year success #'s to select where I would put in for this year. All that background research was a waste of time though and App Fees , as I did not get drawn for anything in the 13 locations I put in for... I need to start picking up beer cans on the side of the road & spend more $'s on the scratch Off Lottery I guess to fund a trip to one of the guided hunts in West Texas...but I'm sure the Better Half would have to be paid off her share 1st.

Never hunted that area but I have seen both live and dead axis along the HWY between Fredericksburg and Llano on HWY 16. Been a few years but they are in that area. Good luck

First day was a bust. Tried to draw back my bow to make sure I had room in their pop up blind. Accidentally hit the release and dry fired it and popped the peep out of place. Saw a doe but didn’t have any sights.

Yikes. That's why I never draw my bow without an arrow knocked.

Hope you get it fixed and can still hunt.

I had to burn the morning hunt the next day to get to a bow shop. Shout out to Los Cazadores in Stonewall. Great people over there.
