The rut is generally the last week of October to the first week of November here but the big boys are running wide open as of today. I’ve seen 6 mature shooters over 150”s the last 2 days so if your up this way I’d hit the woods ASAP if you can. I guess 2021 has them all screwed up as well, maybe thr trying to get the doe’s bred before the mandates for them kick in and they can’t travel. I drove within 50 yards of a solid 180” this morning in Oklahoma and then went to the Texas side and saw another 160” buck so it’s game on up here. When you can drive right up on them and they don’t even look at you it’s time to be in the woods. Thr completely stupid right now and I’ve seen roughly 25 different bucks in the last 3 days just checking properties out in the wide open fields,

I wish it was the youth season and I could make a couple kids dreams come true,, I’ve never seen the rut this crazy this early in the season up here so somethings happened differently this year but regardless it’s the time to be in the woods.

I've heard a couple similar reports. Very strange to be so early. Global warming I guess has Mother Nature all screwed up.

I was out west near Childress Texas the past 2 days checking our feeders and cameras and saw bucks going after does.
Normally I think the rut out there starts around Thanksgiving but it was crazy what I saw. One afternoon 2 does came to the feeder,
one doe started acting frisky, jumping, shaking her head like she might be ready for a buck and ran off into some brush. A large 8 point showed
up and went in right after her. Then yesterday morning 5 does came into the feeder and an 8 point buck was right behind them. He stayed back
then went into the brush. A little later a nice 10 point came in and those does saw him and took off only to have that nice buck right on their tails.
Not sure what to think of all that and was surprised to see that kind of action so early in the season. I hope all of you have a great hunting season.

There are pockets inside every region of a state that will have an earlier or even later rut. Back in the early to mid 90's in northern Kendall County for example, I witnessed 2 mature bucks chasing a doe around Sept. 25 one year. We had a stronger early season cold front that dropped temps that morning to low 40's. I was road feeding that morning and looking for bucks/scouting and witnessed this first hand. I also know that that area of the county had an early rut every year...mid Oct. I was able to find newborn fawns on the ground the last week of April every year I was there. Earliest fawn on the ground was April 5th. When shooting does on that ranch I checked to see if and when a doe was bred. One doe had a fetus that we were able to measure and could tell the doe probably bred around Oct. 5th that year. This year on my new place I found scrapes right after the bucks started shedding velvet. When bow hunting I have also witnessed several fights this year.
