Ha....! Flashback.

Some years ago....a co-worker brought in a small snake (all smashed up) in a plastic baggie and asked me to I.D. it. He thought he had killed a small rattlesnake (we have pygmy rattlers here) but it was an immature Prairie Kingsnake.

I didn't 'scold' him about it....but pointed out it was a beneficial snake.

His retort....was that as far as he was concerned there are only two types of snakes: "The Swimmy kind and the Crawly kind" and that he kills them both. Had to laugh at that. And this was/is not an uneducated man (Senior Engineer at the company). But that was truly his position on it.
