Wife & I went to the lease this morning to get blinds ready for the season. Going in Wife saw a nice 8 pt standing along side of the road. About 20 minutes later after we had pick-up Big Red and headed to out actual lease, he was still standing along side the road but he had company a big doe. If she moved he moved , when she stopped he stopped. Seems awful early even for pre-rut here in NE Texas.

they will breed while in velvet if a doe is ready, just doesn't happen often.
When Mississippi did the crazy buck a day limit for several years but does were archery or muzzle loader and only 2 doe the buck to doe ratio got 27 to 1 around where my place is. fawns were being born pretty much year round. crazy times for sure back then.

There are a buck and doe on my ranch who are always together all winter, spring and summer. I've been watching them for a few years and they are brother and sister who were orphaned when mom died during their first summer. They split up in late October and then are back together by the end of November. She has two fawns right now and he is very protective of them. He runs at me but stops at about 40 yards if I am anywhere near the fawns.

I saw a buck running a doe last week in Bastrop county. I have seen a buck chasing a doe in September on my ranch in Leon co a couple years ago.

Saw a little buck chasing the heck out of the girls back in August. The girls weren't having any of it, but he was dang sure birddogging them.
Silver spurs and gold tequila keep me hanging on. Pretty girls and old cantinas give me shelter from the storm.

Crazy but in my neighborhood this week I saw a fawn that couldn't have been more than a few weeks old. Splain that.

Crazy but in my neighborhood this week I saw a fawn that couldn't have been more than a few weeks old. Splain that. Not unusual in all areas of Texas....doe fawns can breed before the end Feb this year, if they get large enough in body size. IIRC they can breed if they reach 60lbs live weight before the end of Feb. This happens a lot in areas of Texas with early ruts.
Are idiots multiplying faster than normal people?

Saw bucks behind my fence pushing doe yesterday around 6 pm. Already starting to swell up here.
