Not sure what it was but it burned when I peed, pretty sure I got it from a toilet seat… 50 cc of Combiotic x three days and I was fine.

I had an infected ingrown toenail once.

I had an infected ingrown toenail once. Easy peasy. Put a little dab of Neosporin on a pinch of cotton ball and put it under there.

Tequila poisoning in 1980. Was sick for a week. Can’t stand the smell of it now. At SHOW about 10 years ago got the flu and a bad stomach bug. Laid in a dark hotel room 2 days shivering puking carping. Lost 9 lbs.
Other than that been pretty dang lucky.

Not related to cancer, heart, vascular, or organ surgery but like bacteria or virus.
Me, when 12 years old, I came close to dying from Typhoid Fever. There was a point when delirious it was close. That was 44 years ago and I still remember hallucinating like it’s burned into my memory. Necrotising fasciitis, both type I and type II. 11 kinds of bacteria and a fungus in my leg and 4 kinds of bacteria in my bloodstream. Sepsis early on and c-diff near the end. Unbearable pain that can make any man ready to meet their maker. I circled the drain and should not have survived it, but somehow climbed back out. It changed me. Fortunately my wife and family thinks my new personality was an improvement over my old one.

When I was a kid another kid hit me with a bat on the lower left side of my belly. It didn't really hurt all that bad at first. However - it apparently caused severe internal injuries. Pretty much ended up septic from constipation. Absolutely hands down the worst I've ever felt. I was like 9 at the time and 25 years later can still vividly remember how horrible it was.
I've had some pretty bad bouts of food poisoning - but I'll take them all twice again before having to deal with that again.

I had Mono in college. That was horrible, it was like the flu, but lasted forever. I just remember sleeping for 20 hours a day, and missing a lot of class.
Kidney Stone was the most pain I have ever been in. I was driving to the ER barfing on myself and almost passing out from the pain.

Diverticulitis. I had flare ups from it for 10 years, 4 times a year. It would make me sick and I couldn’t eat for 10 days at a time but I could keep working. Work finally slowed down and I had a foot cut out of my guts. Never had another problem. Stupid of me to wait that long to have the surgery. I am in day 10 of this. Hit while we were on vacation. I’ve lost ten pounds which is a good thing. Just ready for it to be over.

Not a disease but I damn sure wished I was dead. I had stuck a Mesquite limb in my eye tracking a deer. The pain was off the charts for 3 days! That was in 2007 and I still have issues with it about 3-4 times a year when I wake up in the mornings. It will just burn and burn and burn for hours on end.
Then there was the time I got food poisoning. Think that was in 2000. I ate some cheese and crackers on the way home from the lease. Cheese must have been bad because by that night I was barfing non stop. I got so dehydrated I couldnt even open and close my hands correctly. Pretty sure Gatoraid saved my life that night. Yes, the mesquite thorn in the eye part!!! I took a thorn right in the blue part of my eye, it was the next evening before I could get it removed. That was F'n miserable, its been about 6 years ago now and the issues still come and go like you said...

H1N1 in 2009. Literally crawled in and out of bed for 6 days. I had never gotten a flu shot up until that point. I've gotten a flu shot every year since then!

I got the shingles in my left eye in 2001. The disease itself didn't last too long but it left blisters on my eye & did considerable nerve damage. I was in excruciating pain & I was taking large doses of Vicodin. Take a pill, pass out for 4 hours, wake up from pain, take another pill, then repeat. I was non-functional for 3+ months. One of the after effects was "post herpetic neuralgia (PHN)" which is nerve damage that left me with constant pain over my eye & across the top of my head. The treatments for PHN are some very strong drugs that they also prescribe to epileptics. After trying them I said no & now I just live with the pain. I can take it but there are times when the pain is sharp & intense. I wouldn't wish this ever on anyone.

Type 1, Diabetes. Swine flu and Mono were bad but did not lead to lifelong issues like neuropathy, heart disease, kidney disease, vascular disease, eye issues..... Some of you will remember in December 2017 I had a bad stomach virus and dehydrated from it I guess I got food in to stay down but did not get the insulin for it. I was found unresponsive days later with 1084 blood sugar, 84.5 degree core temp and a blood infection. While in the hospital intubated from Dec 19 till the 29th pneumonia, Kidneys shut down, liver almost did then about 8 hours after getting off the intubation a V-Fib heart attack and shocked to get it pumping again then more intubation. Following that I have never been the same, truly life changing but am still alive. Praise the Lord!!!!!

Type II Diabetes. While it's a pain not being able to eat and drink whatever you want, there are definitely much worse conditions to be forced to live with.
