Looking at purchasing some land about an hour southwest of rocksprings and land further west in valverde my question is would this be enough land given the only hunters would be myself and my wife and typically only shoot 1-2 deer a year. Never hunted that far south and curious to get some info from people that hunt the area. We bow hunt 90% of the time and gun safety wouldn’t be an issue as we would use one stand.

I’be heard subdivisions are luck of the draw based off neighbors, this situation is a friends dad passed away and they don’t wanna keep the land as they now live in Mississippi. The 100 acres closest to rocksprings is bordered but a 3000 acre ranch on 2 sides a 600 acre Ranch in the other and front is highway. But as far as I know those ranches could be subbed

I have a friend that bought 250 acres in the NW corner of subdivision...the ranch to the north was 9,000 acres, ranch to NE was 25-30,000 acres, ranches to south and west were subdivision. His biggest problem was the 9,000 acre neighbors hunters hunting the fencelines and shooting everything that walked including on his side of his fence. Anthrax wiped him out the second year he bought the place and then hit him again 12 or so years later.

What you have to look at is deer density in the area you are buying and then hunting pressure. 100 acres in Val Verde could have a deer per 60 acres so you are only supporting 1.5 deer on your land. Rocksprings could and should have more deer, depending on location. If you don't have any water then your numbers are going to be dictated as to how far they have to go for water.
