For many years I lived with what became severe psoriasis.
When it began there was for all practical purposes no viable treatment.
Coal tar was commonly prescribed and later some other topicals,
the effectiveness of which was pretty much nonexistent. I gave up
on pharmaceuticals. Mostly just used heavy duty skin creams to
reduce scaling and inflammation. Coverage on my body worsened
each passing year.
I started seeing advertising on tv for a few different new medications.
I had become extremely skeptical and sadly resigned to my lot so mostly
ignored these but this is a condition that affects not only the person with it
but everyone close to them. So I was obligated to try again. A trip to
another dermatologist, some blood work and we decided on an aggressive
treatment with Skyrizi. This began with a single injection, followed 1 month
later by 2 more and then 3 months later 2 more injections. It seems there was
a positive affect almost immediately! By the time of the 3rd set I was
completely clear. From finger and toe nails, large ares of both shins, both knees,
both elbows, most of my scalp and most of the left side of my torso being
inflamed and scaling to clear skin! I cannot begin to explain the physical,
mental, social and emotional relief this medication has been.
I type all this with the hope that if there is just one other person out there
wearing long sleeve shirts and long pants no matter the weather, battling
nails thick and mis-shaped, smearing creams regularly but still with skin
flaking and inflammed, don’t resign yourself to this.
There are finally real treatment options. I hope you find as great a result as I have.

Blessings.

I started with psoriasis in 1970 went through all the topical ointment wrapping in celaphane the light boxes under skin injections. Around 1998 the disease started to turn into arthritis, it was hard to get going in the morning. Scheduled an appointment with a a clinic in Dallas started the guinea pig treatment finally after a year the doctor tried Remacade this cleared up the psoriasis and the arthritis but i have to get the injections every 10 weeks ($20k) each time thank god for insurance.

Yeah arthritis has been another big player for me
way before psoriasis. I was told there was a connection.
I believe the Skyrizi has helped this also but some weight loss
has probably helped also. Glad you found help!

I was fortunate to have my plaque psoriasis respond to powerful steroids. It mostly went into remission, except for I get an occasional mild outbreak on my scalp, 10 days of cortisone and it'll go back into remission for a couple of months.

for every stereotype there's a prototype don't be the prototype
