I think I need one in my life. Not looking competition quality, just an accurate shooter. While I prefer wood, I am not opposed to synthetic. New or old, bolt or semi auto, what is a decent shooter for under say $400?
TIA

You won’t find a semi auto for that price so it will be a bolt action. I have a Ruger American and put it in a Boyd wood stock, great gun. Also have one in 22LR

Rossi makes a semi-auto in .22 Magnum, $385. No idea of the quality.

Hadn't heard of that model so I looked it up and sure enough it's a Talo exclusive, stainless only, likely pricey, and hard to find. A little searching found one for $419.99 plus shipping and fees. I guess that's not bad considering what a Marlin 783 is now worth. Wish you could get blued steel. Nope, Ruger doesn't sell the stock ... that's probably a Talo stock.
Pass the gravy.

There’s a stainless Savage on texas guntrader for $400 Thanks Alan. I also noticed a Marlin xt 22 mag on their website. Does anyone have any knowledge of that model? Is it a newer, non JM stamped product?

Is that Keltec picky on ammo? I’ve been wanting one but they are $600 these days when you can find one.

may look into a Henry Classic in .22WMR
One of my favorite guns.
My new favorite bolt rimfire is a Ruger American. Check them out as well. accurate, and very handy
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

I have a tube fed marlin (783 I think), it’ll cut ragged holes at 50 yards and shoot right at an inch at 100 yards depending on how good I shoot. It’s fun to shoot and will put the smack on critters up to coyote sized critters out too 100 yards. I payed $250 for mine at a pawnshop and I’ll never sell it.

That doesn’t help me Seems like people really like old Marlins. I guess I will check out some pawn shops.
