I found these on two of my feeders. I understand that there are feral goats in Texas. I have little knowledge of these critters so if some of you exotic experts could fill me in on these I would be grateful.

Catalina is what I've heard them called

Had a ton of them on a lease 30+ years ago up on the cibolo creek near Evans Road outside of SA.
I killed a couple of big old billies. Stink like the dickens

High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

A good buddy of mine had a place outside of Sonora and they had a bunch that would show up now and then. As ILUV said, you can smell them coming sometimes.

We always called them just "Spanish" goats. LO of a lease we were on kept a few, I think to feel like a goat farmer, like his well-known grandfather, but he was too lazy to ranch anything really. They were wild.. They'll tear up everything.

They look more like Boer type goats to me. I would think they are your neighbors. If not then set up a trap. Catch them and take them to the auction. If you see them throw out some corn. If they come up to eat it they are not feral they are the neighbors.

I’d blast them on sight if they were on one of my properties.

Shot one 35 years ago out at Comstock. I agree, they are stinkers.

Look pretty healthy & uniform in size. If they are a neighbors escaped livestock not sure you can blaze away without getting into trouble.

I may be wrong but I think the rule is that exotics with a visible ear tag cannot be legally shot without first contacting the sheriff in an attempt to locate the owner. Since these have no visible ear tags, I don’t think you’ll get in trouble. However, if you locate the owner and he gets them back, it might open up some hunting opportunities for you. up

Boer goats are not exotics. They are livestock the same as cattle or sheep. Would you shoot some ones cow if they got on your place? Shooting one of those goats would be the same as shooting a cow that did not belong to you.

Seems to me that if someone owned these goats then they should be actively pursuing their recovery?

I believe you but don't recall seeing the law address which animals are (or are not) considered exotics. I'm sure there is a statute somewhere listing the animals that qualify as livestock. Hopefully someone will show up and enlighten us. up

Maybe you need to read some of the posts on this forum where folks are having trouble with neighbors cattle. Maybe some folks need to do some fence work.

Are Nubian milk goats exotic? Are Angora goats exotics? Are the different breeds of wool sheep exotics? I don't think so but maybe some of the know it alls on here will enlighten me.

Too bad they’re aren’t any cabritos. I’d kill them just to get them off my feeders. They won’t be fine dining.

If a person plans on killing the neighbors livestock they best not start asking on a public forum what to do about some goats on his property. Just do it and keep it to themselves.

You better make sure the landowner wants them controlled, or it might end up costing you a pretty penny.
