I made a mess of pork steaks for my boys birthday party a few years ago. Had them cut 1.25 inch thick, seasoned with SPG, smoked for about 2 hours on the offset smoker then put them in a roaster oven and covered in a mix of bbq sauce/cider vinegar/water/butter and left them on low heat a few more hours. One of the best pork dishes I have ever made.

I'm a big fan of Kent Rollins. He and his wife sure seem like awesome people. His channel is one of my top 3 favorite cooking shows/channels.

I actually just ordered & received his cowboy hash knife and mesquite spatula, gonna order some more things from them tonight to help support.

I like it. I was going to order a ULU knife from Bush Monkey, but decided on this one. I've chopped up a bunch of stuff already.

I'd use my teeth to cut stuff before I'd send a dime of my money to that $#%&*@! at Bush Monkey.

I actually have one from him I got in a trade. Good knife. But he's crapped on every other knife maker on this forum over the years and it's just ridiculous. No need to buy from such a hateful human being. Too many good ones in the world to support.

I can guarantee you ol' Kent Rollins would not be a fan of his either.

I, too, have bought a couple of knives from BushMonkey, and they are the best, most well made knives I have in my collection. They ain't purty, but he made it clear to me that he doesn't do pretty knives; he does functional knives that are tools, not showboats. Highly opinionated, yes; passionate about his craft and and the products he rolls out of his shop, yes. If I were rich instead of so darned good looking, I would have more of his knives in my collection.

Yeh I guess I missed out on the crapping on other knife makers stuff, that's not cool. I'm not on the knife makers forum much though. I have bought some really nice knives from other knife makers from here though and they were really good guys.

I read some of the exchanges and I didn't think he was "crapping" on other knife makers so much as he was saying that he feels that the ONLY way to attach the scales to a knife was with screws; pins, in his opinion, did not get it done. 99% of my knives have pinned scales; the few that I've made myself have pinned scales. I don't think he's a "hateful human being," so much as that he's a knife maker with very strong opinions on how knife handles should be attached when the knives are to be deployed in very demanding conditions. Pinned knife scales work just fine for what most of us use them for but he, not necessarily in a diplomatic way, let us all know what he thinks of pinned scales. He's sort of a Donald Trump of the knife makers! He's not a politician, he's knife maker, and a very opinionated one.
