my poor wife wants to hunt with me and has bought her a new fancy beretta 20 gauge but cant hit a thing and im not proficient enough myself to teach her the basics of wingshooting. i learned by just doing it and "winging" it but she really needs some professional instruction or even just spend some time watching and learning from someone who half way knows what they are doing.
she has the basics of safe handling and loading and operation of her gun but just cant seem to put pellets in the air anywhere near a target.
frankly i get frustrated trying to work with her cause i think it shows my ineptness as well!!

anyplace or anyone offer shotgun instruction? google is drawing a blank and she is getting frustrated with herself and i domt want her loosing interest

we are in houston but will travel in the state for them
thanks

South Central TX is a big area to cover...

I don't know who is teaching at Capitol City Clays in Austin any longer but if there is any way you can hook her up with Mike McAlpine (Clay Bird Specialties) that is the route I would go. He's based out of San Angelo but used to travel quite a bit. He's who I would go with. I went to one of his small group (I think we had 5 guys in ours) 3 day classes and it's some of the best money I've spent regarding scattergun shooting. Plus, he's just a good dude with a WEALTH of information.

Good luck...tell him Judd from Dallas said hello.

If that route doesn't go well...get an NSCA level instructor over NRA or any other certified instructor, they specialize in clays and their program Mike helped create.

I can recommend Gil and Vicki Ash in Houston. I have been to their school in the past. Extremely nice people and very knowledgeable in shotgun instruction. Their classes are at the American Shooting Center in Houston.

Thanks for this. I need to get my son a lesson while he has no bad habits to break.

I never met Gil Ash but wished i could have had him as a instructor. he has lots of youtube videos https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLD5E0503E846D9CE6

2 of his videos made a lot of difference in my score : "how to shoot chandelles" & "what to do when you don't know what to do "

For those that might be interested, here's the link to Gil's Knowledge Vault. It's a subscription program. It's worth checking into. Read what all is included. There's a ton and then some!
