My son(13) has been practicing with his bow, and is shooting consistent 3" groups at 20 yards as long as his arms don't get tired. He's shooting 35 lbs, 24" draw, and 75 gr field tips. I'm having a hard time finding 75 gr broadheads. Have 75 grain broadheads been deemed too light? Have they fallen out of favor? I'm having a hard time finding any. I plan on letting him bow hunt with me this year.

I have actually found some 75 grain on amazon. I hate using Amazon, but if you can't find something, you can usually find it on Amazon.*sigh* My question is, have they fallen out of favor? Are they considered too light for deer? Why are they not out there?

If the arrow is spined correctly to its tip weight it recovers quicker and has a great chance of penetration. So no 75 isn't to light if arrow spine is correct. Probably not the overly complicated anwser you where looking for though. It's better to be over spined then under, and most kids are over spined as strength will increase before draw length but over spine allows for both. Hope that makes sense. FWIW- Grim reaper is still privately owned so it's not Chinese junk. I didn't think 10gr is going to matter to much, as I suspect you are hand corning 20 and under. Lower poundage bows need to think more traditional type arrow set ups, weight and two blade broad heads are your friend

This is exactly the type info I was looking for. He is shooting Beman Hunter Jr arrows. The spine is not printed on the arrow, but it does say 40 lbs max. The arrow weighs 318 grains with the 75 gr tip installed. My thought was to get 75 grain muzzys (which I found on Amazon). But you are saying I should look at a 2 blade setup? Yes, we are going to be corning at 20 yards for him.

G5 Montec 75gr with the Cabela's youth arrows was deadly for a couple ladies I setup with bows at 37/38 lbs. They keep their shots inside 25 yards and are selective with their shots and are accurate enough to hit their spot.
Now I do not see the 75gr but they do make the 85gr Montechs. Unclebubba Cabela's in Allen shows limited stock and I know you know where that store is. .

The Stingers would be great for him as well. Beaman Junior is the same spine as the Cabela's arrows I had those 2 ladies shooting, one of them picked up archery very quick and can out shoot most of us. 2nd day she had her bow she robinhooded 2 times at 30 yards. Her last 6 shots on our range the shafts were all touching less than an hour after setting her bow up.

American Broadhead Company Sonic. Can be purchased direct on their site, and comes with practice blades.
