Didn't draw antelope this year in Wyoming. Was hoping 2 pts would be enough, but with the tag drop in a number of regions it looks like last years "sure thing" did not come to fruition.
I've still got my Washington Mule Deer tag in pocket, so it'll still be a fun Fall. Hopefully I can draw some stuff in Texas.

Didn’t draw Mule deer or pronghorn this year. I was hoping for the random draw so I was not holding my breath.

Us old guys remember things a lot different these days. I grew up in Nebraska, about 20 miles from the Wyoming line. To shoot a mulie in Wyoming, you just went into a sporting goods store and pay 20 bucks for a permit. I can remember Antelope a lot of years later where we would apply for a buck permit for 100.00 and once the season opened, we could go into sporting goods stores and buy about all the doe permits we wanted for 50 bucks each ! I remember living in California later and we went antelope hunting south of Casper. There were 5 of us and we hauled out 17 total antelope on that hunt.

Lucky so far this year. Got a Wyoming WT buck tag, and 2 extra doe tags for the same unit. A hard to draw antelope tag with zero points, so the hunting gods were smiling!! Get them out of the way, and head to Kansas in December with the muzzleloader.

I drew a buck and doe antelope tag, but I apply in an area that has poor public access. I'd rather I get to hunt than not. But as a Wyoming resident I again didn't draw a deer or bull elk tag. So it's general again...if I even buy a tag. If I fill a cow tag early I'd be fine with that.
Bird hunting is more fun anyway. Got a few species to chase this yr in CO, NE, TX, and maybe ID
Now for the Texas draw, I sure would like to draw that devils river aoudad hunt again (dreaming of course)

We just made a moose scouting trip to western Wyo. Saw the least amount of pronghorn I've seen in 34 years here. It's bleak out in the Red Desert. Looks like some areas did not get any green up this spring. We're looking great over this way compared to what we saw going West.

Spouse drew a whitetail tag, we both got our pronghorn buck and doe tags. No LQ elk for us but spouse has a moose tag so we'll hunt early archery elk on a general tag before his moose hunt. We will both also buy general deer tags, you can have one with a whitetail tag.
Blank is your whitetail tag in a good area ? Spouse has some private access and his tag is good for 3 areas with decent public land right near here.

Find water and you'll find some bucks. Had some nice rain this weekend, hope it went over that way too.

We finally drew this year. Had to apply in a different unit than where we had planned to go the last three years. We're north of the red desert in a region that did not see a reduction in tags. I've never been up there. May wonder around and try to find a fall bear while we're out west. Looking forward to going back after just banking points for 12 years.

Said numbers were ok but recruitment suffered. Said we were lucky to draw this year as they will probably cut the tags next year. I know some units down where yall are at got cut pretty substantially this year. We drew up by the reservation. Hopefully the numbers are decent. We'll be up on the 9th when the weather is cooler. I booked a motel in Riverton. Never been there but logistically it was easier than hauling all the camping stuff. Any pointers on Riverton would be appreciated.

Lived there for 5 years nice Wyoming town. Make sure you visit Rocky Mountain Sporting Goods, nice store has a little bit of everything. Go to Hudson, Wy and eat dinner at Sweelers (speeling) monster steaks. Go to Lander and visit the Sinks Canyon pretty cool place. Have a fun trip.

I think Maven is in Lander and I have a set of Binos I dropped and bent the exit bell (I think that is what it is called) and thought about dropping them off to be fixed.

Your weather should be much cooler by the 9th, good luck and enjoy the hunt. We'll be chasing moose again over west of Big Piney.
Quick little pronghorn trip for us Saturday-Sunday over to Saratoga. Bucks will be the focus but we have doe tags too.
