Hodgon issued a press release they are closing the Goex Plant in Camp Minden, LA and if a buyer is not found that will end black powder manufacturing in the U.S.
For those in need of BP, you are out of luck.

Wow...
Well, there is Swiss powder which was in my opinion was better. But, I was using goex as a kid shooting muzzleloader monthly matches. That hurts. It seems that I've lived through too many "eras" ending.

That stinks. Goex Old Eynsford 2F was what I normally use. I stocked up a couple of years ago, along with caps but that won't last forever. I may start using 777 when I eventually run low but even that is hard to find now. Crazy world right now.

It does stink.
If memory serves me right black powder per DOT is still considered an explosive, which makes it harder and more expensive to ship. The substitutes are considered flammable solids which makes them easier and cheaper to ship and therefore more available. Maybe that is Hodgdon's motivation (They invented Pyrodex after all) to close the plant.

We lost domestic lead production in 2013. I sure hope we don’t lose black powder. Kind of makes you want to cash mob GOEX black powder.

The GOEX plant exploded in June. Hodgdon is not rebuilding it. Any buyer will have to build a new plant.
