Twisted X fit my foot great. I will wear my snake boots all day long.

I love Danners, but my new ones leak. I am also looking for a boot like Danner use to be 10 years ago.

I used to buy the cabelas outfitter boots. They were a great value that was on par with the Danner of old. Bass Pro bought cabelas. The new boots are made in China and are crap. Last two pairs Of hunting boots I’ve bought have been the Redwing Irish Setter Elk Trackers. I think they are also made in China. I am a foot hunter and I really like them. I buy the uninsulated boots. They are waterproof when new. In time they will leak. They all do after prolonged hard use. They have an air bob sole and a cork midsole so they will pick up some mud. Like most good leather boots, break in is required. https://www.irishsetterboots.com/hunting-boots/shop-by-family/elk-tracker/

Luckily sounds like you want upland boots. You should see the price of good mountain boots these days, I just layed out $400 for some boots that should last me the rest of my hunting life. They are re- sole able. I have some Russell's and they are great but don't fit everyone's feet, my spouse has 2 pair and neither actually fit his feet even though they were made just for him.

I tried to have some Russell's made, but their communications were awful, no visible end in sight time-wise, and they didn't really seem to care. I got my deposit refunded.

Are yall using the Made in USA Danners or the imported versions? My Acadias are solid, I threw my Pronghorns away after the sole separated. I tried the Thorogoods last year, but I am not impressed so far. I try to by the US made boots when possible.

I've got Red Wings, LL Bean & Danners. Like them all. The RW & Bean boots are over 20 years old.

I like the Oboz I got a couple months ago. Worked out well on my Montana hunt.

My US made Danners with the stitched soles are falling apart in about 8 months now. The leather is thin and ripped in several places. The sole above the stitching is separating too. I'd return them but not hopeful on anything. I'm hard on boots, the RedWing Irish Setters barely lasted a year. Anything made in China just outright avoid like the plague. It might look good but won't last.
One shot is all it should take.

I fell out with Pronghorn's for the same reasons as everyone else. For lace up's, I like Lowa boots but my daily boot is Danner Sharptail back zip pull on. I'm pretty rough on every day boots but they last as good or better than other brands I've tried over the years. If you put them where I go for every day, none will completely shed all water after a couple years but I have one pair that I use strictly for bird hunting that get annual maintenance and they are still good after several seasons. Also have a pair of those in snake boot and have never got a foot wet in them either. I do have and like Irish Setter boots but they are much heavier than the Sharptail's so they don't get worn as much.

Where is the best place to try on several of these brands listed above? I hate to buy them over the internet without trying them on first. I love LL Bean brand, but I have never worn their boots.
Smokey Bear, how are the soles on those boots? I read a review online that they hold mud and become heavy.

I've worn all kinds, Danners, Red Wings, Irish Setters, Cabela's Kangaroos. Right now, I have a pair of Timberland that are great. If you see some, check em out.

Hard to beat a pair of White's, one pair is 15 years old and been resoled once. The other is 12 years old and wear like new. Both are rough side out and 12 inch uppers. Walked in them for 14 days on hand crews and done a lot of fires in mountains and swamps. I thought if I can walk days to fight fire; I can hunt in them. Worked great over the years. Hard boots to break in, but last if treated with TLC after hard use. Just follow the instruction to fit the boot and take of them. Good socks are a need as much as good boots. A lot of the crews used Nick's or Thorogood's boots with good results, they just do not make one to fit my arch. Danner lost favor over the last few years on all fronts. https://whitesboots.com/

I hate to hear that the quality of the Danners has gone the way of the buffalo. I have a 15 yo pair of Pronghorns that are still going strong. I bought a pair of Danner Mountain 600 hikers last year and so far they've been great. I think they're made in Vietnam, not China.
Silver spurs and gold tequila keep me hanging on. Pretty girls and old cantinas give me shelter from the storm.

I've got the Danner Desert TFX-8 and they have been great. Wore them on my hunts in West Texas and never an issue. But I confess I probably don't wear them as much as some of y'all.... made in Vietnam...

I bought some Danner Recurves and they are the best boots I have ever owned, no doubt.

They will pick up some mud. Any boot that affords traction on slope will. I don’t notice the heavy thing. Wife stays on my tail for tracking mud in the house. I’m a forester and they see daily wear from me. Sole holds up pretty good. Current pair is 3 years old. That is a long time for me. I wore out a pair of the Russell boots everyone gushes over in less than a year. Go to a redwing store and try them on. This is what the sole looks like after wearing it in the woods everyday for 3 years.
