I just saw this. I've been in the hospital for the past 9 days. Thanks for asking about me. I've been dealing with some gastrointestinal issues for a couple of years. Had planned to have surgery about a year and a half ago, then covid hit. It was a perfect opportunity to cancel surgery, much to my Wife's chagrin. Well, had a colonoscopy done. Doctor Macaluso in Plano told me, "boss, you need a colon resection". Turns out I had a bladder fistula. A fistula is a hole between 2 organs. Colon bile was entering my bladder. Pizzing blood and constant burning and numerous UTIs. Made the decision to do the surgery last thursday. 6 hours under the knife. They were going to do lathroscopic but couldn't, so he had to cut me open.

When he opened me up my appendix was in the way so he removed it. Put a stent in my bladder, cut out 10" of my colon. Here I am drinking coffee in my hospital bed as I write. HCA medical city in Plano. I went 8 days with no food or drink, only IV drip. Today they let me eat a low residue diet, had my first food this morning, a killer omelette. I went into afibrillation after surgery and had to be hauled to the cardio unit where I am now. It's been a whirlwind. Haven't felt much like writing. Funny thing, they've had me on morphine and dilaudid. Last Saturday I was watching an Eagles concert from '83. As I was watching, there was a long tall cowboy to my left and a short chick sitting to the right. I told cowboy slim to pass the doober, then I realized it was my IV drip pole and the chick to my right was the trash can. I get out tomorrow. No more UTI and screaming when I pee. Fixin' to get another shot of morphine

Hang in there Erath. Wishing you a quick recovery and a pain free future. Glad you got it taken care of before it really became a medical emergency or worse.

Dang it, man. You seem to be in good spirits, considering. I’d expect nothing less from you. Enjoy the morphine.

That's a helluva ride. Glad you're on the mend with good drugs. Take care of yourself and heal up those insides properly so they last many more years.

Dude, get those preventative check-ups done. Had my 50 YO colonoscopy done 3 years ago. 7 polyps, one pre-cancerous. Got on the 3 year plan due to those 7, which I did August 4th this year. I had 7 more polyps, none cancerous. Don't wanna think about what happens if I didn't get the preventative check-up done. We're all gonna die but I'm not trying to get into the express lane. Wow, nine days. I can't imagine that ordeal. But I guess the medication helps.
Hope you have a full recovery.

Did you know Tanner? The Chinee Cooties got him.
