Heading to Austin for some football this weekend and was hoping to try some “old school” dive bars and/or restaurants worth a visit. Where’s your favorite hole in the wall? TIA

late to posting ... Hoover's is old school homecooking, I would classify as soul food. Valentino's BBQ trailer in south Austin and Stiles Switch in north Austin would be my choices for good BBQ. El Patio on the north end of the drag (Guadalupe) ... What type of foods are you looking for?

Number 1 choice- Angies Mexican Kitchen on 7th St. a few blocks East of IH35. Killer hot sauce.
Number 2 choice- Mighty Fine Burgers & Shakes-3 or 4 locations around town. Best burgers around.

Not a dive, but Jack Allen’s is good South Texas fare.
