Drew the Nov 20 thru Nov 28 deer hunt at the Brierwood refuge. I know there a lot of hogs but I am hopping we can find one of those huge river bucks that’s been hiding all those years in there. I Grow up about ten miles from there so it’s like I be hunting at home. Fingers crossed I can find OL Chocolate Horn Henry

With the amount of hogs on that place I would be shocked if there are any deer left. I don’t know how long it’s been since you’ve been there but the locals I’ve talked to said the hogs have decimated the deer hunting in the area. At least what I was told. I stopped putting in for the deer hunt. I’m not giving them any more money until they do something about the hogs. I was born and raised in east Texas. We’ve trapped 29 hogs in a single day. That area has less hogs than Trinity River. I’ve never seen anything like it.

If you are expecting a deer hunt you will be disappointed. I think your best bet for a deer will be on the edges of the property near private lands on that east side.

I hope you like hogs!

I hunted there a few years ago and that place is loaded with hogs. I did see 2 deer briefly but couldn't get a shot. If you are looking to kill hogs you will definitely get plenty of opportunities.

In brierwood there was a feeder on private land on the opposite end from the entrance. It looked like it hadn't been used in a couple of years but I would probably check that out and see if I could get lucky enough to snag a deer going to that feeder.

hit the jackpot again this year!! Just got picked for 11/6 at Page and 11/20 at Brierwood.

I could care less about deer hunting so I will be on a hog hunting expedition and these places are a hog hunters dream. Well if you like tons of targets that is.

Going to do my best to eradicate as many as possible from those areas. Cant wait!
