So I'm not very good at aging deer, and just curious as to what you think the age may be on these deer. I have a 10, (circled once in red) but I believe he's 4.5 or close to it, and I think the other two 8's are probably mature, but I don't really know. Just looking for some pointers if you have any. And yes these are the best pics I have. Sorry, camera is set up at one minute intervals and they don't appear to enjoy the broadside pose to well. This is the cross timbers region of Texas if needed. Thank you in advance, and good luck this season.

I hate to have to say this but those deer do not look to be in good condition - maybe it is just the camera angle, etc. but they do not look healthy to me no matter what age they are

I actually thought the same thing, look rather run down for this time of year. More look like the "rut" to me than Summertime. May also have them looking a bit older than they are.

Deer in first 2 pics looks to be a 3 yr old. Other two bucks in last pic are hard to judge in that pic but appear to be 4.

The 10 looks either 3.5 or 4.5 to me and the 8s both look a year older.
But these pics make it pretty hard to nail it down for me.

High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

Is that due to just not having the weight you'd like to see, or they actually have something wrong with them like disease? For whatever it's worth nearly all our deer look like this. Old and young. Thin legged, not fat. Appreciate any tips to learn.

Thank you. I appreciate it, and always appreciate the pics you're posting too. You have a great skill with the lens.

WAG on my part is that it could be from to many deer on the habitat you have and then lack of rain. Looks really dry and if it has been like that all spring and summer then those are the issues. I can drive 2 miles from my place and deer do not look the same body condition wise as they do on my place. I ave fed protein, whole cottonseed and corn since late May now. They were in bad shape into late spring till I started to feed, now they do not look anywhere the same condition wise. Deer 2 miles away look like typical hill country deer look like in overpopulated areas with poorer habitat in years with below average rainfall.

I think the 10 is young an the 8s are mature. Hard to tell without more pics.
