One of the most accurate rifles of any kind I ever owned was a lowly S&W M&P sport AR15, no forward assist or dust cover.
Before I began reloading, was limited to factory ammo available.
Once I found the ammo it liked it was like flipping a switch, it went from 1.5" - 3" groups at 100 to 1/2" - 3/4" , and I am by no means a "good shooter".
The magic ammo was Federal Power Shok 62gr.
Bought it cheap during the second Bush administration and sold it for double after Obama was elected.
Probably should have kept it hammer

True. My 6.8 shoots sub MOA with a Bison barrel. It's a Franken pig killer. A really good factory AR costs too much, wasteful, my opinion.

I just built a 2nd 6.8 upper with a Bison barrel and it shoots great with factory S&B ammo. It's MOA or better with that ammo and 1-8 scope so I called it good enough.

Looked at a Match Barreled JP Enterprises yesterday along with the Christensen AR I LOVE The Christensen, great looking, feeling. But I dont trust it for max accuracy, too expensive also.

First AR15 I built was a $125.00 AR Stoner Barrel (Pre BCA days).
Quick video running it to 700 yards.
To this day it is one of my most accurate builds.

I really don’t know how accurate my AR is. What I do know is that I have too much money in my Black Rain AR, and it shot poorly till the barrel was replaced with a Seekins Precision and the trigger with a LaRue. I was going to hand load for it, but already had a bunch of 65 gr Sierra loaded up for the bolt gun. I decided to sight in with the already loaded rounds and found that it grouped great (under an inch at 100). I decided to use the same load for both rifles. I will assume that handloads just for the AR would shoot better, but I’ll never know. That doesn’t make this rifle a super accurate one, but I have a suspicion that it might be.

I don't know anything about Christensen ARs but JP Enterprise makes great stuff. I have a factory built JP SBR in 9mm.

Pretty much any good quality barrel with a matching bolt properly installed with a good trigger and good optics will shoot better than most shooters are capable of.

Not the one I bought (prior to the add-one). It shot to mil-spec, and the CEO of the company told me that’s what I should expect. Well, I expected more and now I have it - cost money though.

I'm running a DPMS mini sass barrel will shoot sub minute with good ammo. The barrel ,trigger and scope is what really matters.

I have a Cheytac C15 AR.
1/2 MOA right out of the box. Great Timney trigger comes standard with it.
Just ordered the CT10 308 also.

less than 1 inch isn't super accurate. That's barely acceptable.

I probably have the only one in existence. I have a PSA upper that will shoot clover leaves at 80 yards. i have done it multiple times. There is no reason it should shot as good as it does. Chrome lined. Cheap ammo. Bad trigger but it is a shooting fool.

Was just going to ask about White Oak Armament. I've always heard they made quality.

THIS

And also note most of the "frankenguns" shoot better anyway.

Yeah, I don't get the use of the word frankengun as a derogatory term when they're almost always better than factory-assembled weapons. The only AR's I have out of 8 that don't shoot extremely small groups are the two I tried to go as cheap as possible without regard to accuracy.

This thread got me curious with my off the shelf .223's. The first group is from an Anderson basic lower I got from a local classified and a PSA 16" upper with a Vortex Strike Eagle 1x8. All stock. I would like to swap the trigger on this one as it is rather heavy. I did have one stray in each group that could have been me pulling, and it was a gusty windy day too. More than likely it was me though. Both groups were shot with Frontier 55gr .223 box ammo. The second group is from a 10.5" PSA upper and lower, with a Sig Sauer Bravo 3. I'm still getting used to this optic. This gun is in motion to swap the bbl to an 11.3" 300 HAM'R bbl I got a couple months ago. So I'm doing some practice with cheaper ammo before I do the swap. Oh yeah. This was 100 yards.
