Headed out to the Holland road unit #2433. Arrived around 4 pm this afternoon. I was first hunter there.and by the looks of it not many came in the morning. There was no designated parking ( just pull into a weed covered ditch) .. I set up about 200 feet from my truck and realized that the entire pasture is about 5 foot tall Johnson grass, ragweed etc... The hunters started coming in and everybody was looking for shade and some clearing. I would stand up to let them know I was there. They would walk away and be lost to sight quickly only the tallest hunters heads were visible over the grass. I heard about three shots before I left realizing that even if I were able to shot a dove finding it would be impossible. I give the TPWD a D minus. I would not advise taking young hunter or wife/girlfriend there to hunt. Its a cheap hunt and you get what you pay for. I hope others have better reports. Good luck and be safe

Hunted the Granger PHL unit #709. Few hunters around the sore finger unit. Found a good looking area and birds flying probably would have been better with a few more hunters . Shot 7 times and harvested 2. Granger is a big unit almost 11,000 acres. I had success there years ago, just got to find the right pattern. Grade B +

Collin/Hunt #2385. Sat at the south tree line from 5:00pm until sundown. No shots. Saw 3 high flyers at about 7:00, and two more about 10 minutes later. Only one other hunter who showed up about 7:00. He had zero shots too

I went the Stiles farm unit#2509 roughly 1200 acres on Wednesday the 8th. The area looks good plenty of water., Corn and Milo fields. They must have raped the place on the opener. One of the fields was closed due to farmer harvesting the Milo. I sat in the next field over watching the combine. I didn't see one bird fly up. A few hunters and fewer shots. I never raised my gun. I hope they will come back in on the next Cool front.
