We really need to get on top of the covid thing. Every day democraps are getting more voters. 1 in 500 voters are turning to the democrap party.

According to CDC, from an Aug 2020 report, only 6% have actually died from the virus itself. That would mean 39,600 out of 660,000 or .012 of the US population.

I know well over 500 people and don’t know anyone who has died from it. Hell only a handful of people I know well have even had it.

Then you should probably count your blessings I suppose.

Between my wife and I we know at least 10 that have passed. None were really close friends or relatives but still people we knew. Of those, over half were under the age of 60 and had no pre-existing conditions known.

We know a bunch more who've had it that struggled mightily and a few of them are still having pretty serious problems months after getting over it.

I guess that includes the ones with co-morbidities like gun shot woulds, car and motorcycle accidents, heart attacks, etc., right?

I thought being over 60 was a pre-existing condition.

Besides that…… Did you know their health history?

If 60 is the age you prefer to die at I guess that is your choice but to me that is not all that old, especially if you are not obese and in good health. And as I stated of the ones we've known who've passed only I believe 3 were over 60. 3 more were in the early to mid 50s, and 4 were under 50 including one in his 30s.
And no, I was not their primary care physician. I am telling you what we were told from those who passed family members.

One of our managers who is in his late 40s decided not to get vaccinated and he got it 4 weeks ago. He got very sick and was hospitalized for 6 days and luckily did not have to go on a ventilator but was put on oxygen. He's been out of the hospital about 8 or 9 days now and nearly off the oxygen completely. He is not overweight, is active, and had no pre-existing conditions whatsoever either.

I'd say that may be true for the most part but one of the guys we knew that passed was 49 and ran 10ks up to the day he caught it and was dead 10 days later.

Are you talking about slightly overweight or obese? I mean at least 75% of this country over the age of 40 likely is considered slightly overweight. lol

Just out of shape. Not morbidly obese or anything.

Sometimes I wish I had the stats on how many, and at what age, people have passed from the common flu. Underlying conditions would be a plus.

I guess my point is that with every illness it is a personal journey. Everybody’s biological makeup is a little different. Everybody’s lifestyle is a little different. People typically don’t talk about their medical history unless they know that person very well.
Heck there are many statistics that show men in general will not go to a doctor unless they feel it is necessary.
You never know what is biologically, chemically, etc with another person.

This is also why I wish there was more focus on treatments and therapies than a jab of some wonder drug.

Between my wife and I we know of about 30 that have died. Most were elderly, but 2 in their 40's and 1 was 26. Those 3 were in pretty good shape, no known health problems. We also know 4 people that have recovered from the virus, but they residual health problems caused them to retire on disability. One was a Nurse in mid her 40s that had been working in the ICU unit treating covid patients
