What do you have?

Super accurate: under 1" groups @ 100 yards.

Factory guns please, no Franken AR's

I have the previous version of this rifle with the national match trigger. It's a little heavier than some due to the weight of the barrel.

RRA ATH Carbine

This was an average group at 100yds with a 3-9 on it, factory Hornady 55gr V-MAX ammo. I'm assuming a handload could shrink it. The low round is from 'first round pop' with the suppressor, I'm pretty positive, as my RRA Coyote Carbine in 6.8 does the same thing with the can.

I run a cheap S&W Sport (original) with the 1:7 twist. I am a lousy shooter, but I see huge variances depending upon the bullet being used. With Hornady 75gr match, I can stay inside of 1.6" when I do my part. I would bet that a good shooter behind my gun could tighten that up with some load development.

I suspect that finding the right load for your chosen gun may be the bigger challenge.

Sorry my Frankengun with early AR Performance 16" 223Wylde 1/8 twist 5R barrel offends you because it's not from a factory.
I've built quite a few in various lengths/twists in 5.56, 223 and 223Wylde and it's hands down the most accurate one I've ever had.
It easily shoots consistent sub 1" 5 shot groups with my past social security age eyes shooting 68 or 69 grain OTMBT handloads.

Start with a good barrel/bolt combination and build around that with quality components/optics and it's pretty easy to get 1" groups out of an AR even with a lowly 7.62x39 running MilSurp FMJs.

The barrel is the key to accuracy. Buy a premium barrel. Just buy the parts and have someone assemble it for you. I know a guy in Plano that will put it together while you wait.

I went to a non-reciprocating side charger on my last AR and like it much better than the normal charging handle position on the AR.

Factory - Daniel Defense M4V1. Only modification was a geissele SSA-E trigger. Easy sub MOA to 300 yards with factory ammo, at the time just using a cheap vortex diamondback scope. My ex wife decided she'd take that rifle in the divorce so I replaced it with a much nicer build. My "FrankenAR" outperforms the DD in every way, because I built it to do so. It's got an 18" Compass Lake Engineering SPR barrel and matching bolt, which is the nicest AR barrel I've personally shot. Aero receivers, Geissele rail and charging handle, Magpul PRS, adjustable gas block (SLR I think), silent capture spring, and topped with a Burris XTR II 3-15x in an ADM mount I already had. It's an excellent shooter.

Rock River all factory except the handguard and the grip. 3/4 inch groups at 100 yards with factory Hornady 55 Spire Points (my prairie dog go to) and 1/2 inch groups with my handloads - 75 gr Hornady Match BTHP over 24 gr Varget. It wears a different scope these days.

I did, but I got tired of carrying around a super heavy 24 inch bull barrel AR. It was all factory Rock River, 5 shots in a nickel at 100 yards.

I have a bone stock Armalite that shoots pretty good. All I’ve shot through it is hand loads. It is not picky. The trigger could be better but with what it likes, it will shoot.

Here is three shots @ 100yds that is representative of what it does with what it likes

Now that I know what it likes, I load it by the tub

I would rather build than buy a complete one these days. The complete ones have parts I don't want, and would change. So, might as well get the parts I want in the first place. Barrel quality and it's marry to the action is key. Same as a bolt action rifle.

Early this year, I priced out building my own upper with a Wilson Combat Barrel, and the rest was going to be generic cheap parts. It was cheaper for me to just order a complete Wilson combat upper. Accuracy is good, about 1-1.25" with ammo that I had worked up for a different rifle. I have yet to get the chance to work up loads specifically for this rifle.

note: this is a 300BLK, not a .223.

I also ordered a complete upper from Wilson. I then ordered their lower and everything else I could from Wilson. We only needed about 2-3 three small (mag release, etc.) parts. AR 10 in 6.5 Creedmooor, definitely sub MOA, hunted with it many times, made several shots in the 3-400 yard range, all with factory ammo. Buy the lower from an authorized dealer, they'll order it for you and you won't pay any shipping or FFL. Put the lower together yourself and you'll save $1000.00. Their tolerancing and inspection criteria is pretty impressive.

THIS

And also note most of the "frankenguns" shoot better anyway.

Pass the gravy.

I just finished my first build. It's easy. Super easy if you use Aero Precision M4E1 upper and lower. The hardest part is the anticipation of parts arriving. As FiremanJG said why pay for parts you don't want. If the issue is you simply do not want to actually build it yourself scottfromdallas cited a Plano dude that'll assemble while you wait. They come together in no time. You could also have your buddies at Alamo assemble.

True. My 6.8 shoots sub MOA with a Bison barrel. It's a Franken pig killer. A really good factory AR costs too much, wasteful, my opinion.
