Below are last years and this years pics of one of the bigger 8s on the ranch. Last year, he was one of our target bucks but we were unable to catch up to him. We looked forward to getting him this year, but it looks like he has had a rough off season. Sometime between March and July, we assume he misjudged a fence and got an injury that led to a hydrocyst (ruptured in 2021 pic). He also broke off his left antler early in velvet resulting in a stunted growth. We have him at either 6.5 or 7.5, might be older but hard to tell as he has always been a huge bodied deer. Pretty big bummer as we were looking forward to going after him, but its always fun having an extra old deer around. We are planning on letting him go this year to see if he can't have a complete set next year if he makes.
