Something tells me the person that wrote this little piece knows nothing about pigs. Maybe it was how many times they used the term "female boar".

Wow, talk about clueless. The 2 piglets in the trap turned into juvenile boars very quickly. Apparently the author thinks all pigs are boars.

Reminds me of the time in the early 90's when a buddy and I had a small lease together outside Harwood, Texas. We invited a coworker who had just moved down from Detroit, Michigan and had never hunted before, to help us fill our corn feeders. When the cow herd on the place saw us get out of our truck at the corn feeder they came running, thinking we were going to throw out some feed or hay. All of a sudden the guy from Detroit starts running screaming to me and my buddy, " Run!! There's a herd of bulls coming! They all have horns!! He thought that since the bovines had horns they were all bulls!

In Europe, where this took place, all pigs/hogs are boars including sows. "Boar" or "boars" are are just the generic common names for wild pigs/hogs. Hunters will describe coming across a "group of boar" when referencing a sounder. "European wild boar (Sus scrofa) is the common and scientific name for the species, regardless of age or sex.

This is very much with lions. A male lion is called a lion. A female lion is a lioness. A pride of lions will include males, females, and juveniles.

So "female boar" in various European languages vernacular is no different than a "female lion" in our vernacular.

Well they are feral hogs to me and it is no secret they will fug with traps to get their piglets out.
