It was a down year for us potential wise last year. Just didn't see the potential next year possible targets I have been used to. Our rains started a bit late (April) and been inundated since messing up roads all over the place. Dag cows have been playing havoc with me and definitely getting the best of me. Got my cameras out late and photos have been not as much as in the past and rather random. Told I need a software update to get that issue resolved and cannot accomplish that remotely. We will be in between houses during the season and I am not sure how the whole processing my five or six deer is going to work. May end up being a year without making sausage (doubtful, but dreaded).

Nothing deer wise to get real excited about, but the 3rd weekend in November will be here before we know it. Cannot wait.

I deliberately haven't looked too hard at, or put up cameras, since the last couple of years I'd get all excited what showed up on camera in the Summer, only to watch them vanish or get poked by the neighbor. I'm trying to keep my head down, take more mouths off the place, and focus on the long game.

'Biggest challenge coming up this time is getting my bound-and-determined, in his mid-80s father-in-law out there for one or two sits (and his oxygen, and his incontinence, and...my mother-in-law wife). I will be focused on keeping him warm. He will be focused on showing me how it's done. rolleyes 'Tis a fine line between loving someone and wanting to strangle the ever-loving...I better quit.

I am more excited about this season than I have been in a while...new place and new deer to look at. Running cameras has only shown me what is regular to the feeders on my place, not what is around the area. Another 6 weeks and things will get interesting for sure as deer start to move around more. Lack of rain has made things interesting to say the least.
