Been playing with the same group since I started at age 59. Had my first Hole In One today. That made up for a lot of previous bad shots. A bit under 90 yds. and we found it in the cup. Only took 14 yrs. Maybe I should buy a lottery ticket.

Congrats Mike, the Hole n One club is a fun and personal one to be in. When you get an ace on a par 4, it's termed a "Golden Eagle", "Double Eagle" and "Hole n One". Have one of those on a 260 yard par 4 and a traditional hole n one on a 185 yard par 3.

Wind to my back, I drove a 285 yard shot to within a foot of the pin. Walked up on the green to tap my put in and watched a seagull fly away with it. It was laying on the plug where the cup was the day before. Always a day late violin

I started later in life. Been playing two years. Haven't got an ace yet but did witness one in person. Playing partner has been golfing for 63 or so years and got his second ever on a par three a few months ago. I had two three-putt pars in one round last month. hammer

Congrats!
I have a few within a few feet, and that was lucky.
A friend joined us once for his first round ever, he had been practicing a little but his swing was still horrible.
On his first par three he hit a nasty worm burner. The ball rolled all of the way to the green and dropped in the cup. He should have just stopped there, he still can't swing. laugh

I probably would have quit playing right then and there.

Congratulations. That's awesome!

I've seen 4, but none myself.

My favorite that I witnessed was an old timer's 16th hole in one. I worked on the cart staff at a CC in Anna through high school and the summer of my first year of college. I played in the "old timers" game at least every other week. 70+ year old Mr. Logan hit a rescue on #16, bladed it into the bank of the water hazard just off the tee box, it then proceeded to skip across the ground, up on the green, and slammed into the hole. He had little reaction as I jumped up and hollered. He gave me an interesting opinion that day. He said, "the reason amateur old timers have more hole-in ones is because the get the ball on the ground and rolling. They don't have the "drop and stop" ball flight anymore, and a ball rolling has a much better chance of going in than one flying or hopping into the hole".

I've been playing regularly since I was 16. Been close many times, but never had to buy drinks.

Never had a Seagull take one but we watched a squirrel carry one off the fairway one day. Took it into a tree and never saw it again.

I would take a birdie on my scorecard anyway...
