Has had me in the hospital since Monday night. Brother, that hurt. No sooner do I get the shoulder about healed, and this happens. Not having much fun lately.

I’d have said something about something recently, but my tail was dragging.

Cross your fingers for me. Prayers not needed.

Hope you feel better soon.

Yes, big pain. Real big pain. You don’t want this. Really slow to heal, unfortunately, so, they say.

My wife is 53. 4-5 years ago they discovered a cyst on her pancreas. Location was too dangerous to remove so they had her scoped every 6 months. Thing never grew until her last scope in Dec where it doubled in size. Decision was made to remove it fearing Cancer. 4hr operation. Removed her gallbladder and a third of the pancreas. Hospital for 5 days. Home for 4 days when she sprang a leak and got an infection. Emergency room and 10 more days in the ICU. Came home to 2 months of IV bag feeding. Nothing by mouth except water. She started at around 120lbs and got below 100 before she could eat real food again. She's fully healed now with only a zipper looking scar running the length of her belly. Oh, and on insulin now too. Very scary time for us both.

You have a gallstone stuck in your common bile duct. It is blocking the flow of bile causing pancreatitis.

You need a good Gastroenterologist (GI).

If the GI doc says you need your gallbladder out, you will go to a surgeon.

If you do it under a non emergent surgery, you can have it done laparoscopically and go home same day. 3 small holes that heal pretty fast.

If you delay it, you may get it done open. Three small holes, as they try it laparoscopically, and if that does not work, you get an open incision and it sucks. You will be in the hospital for a 5-7 days.

If your surgery is done emergently, you do not pick the surgeon.

If you schedule it and do it before you have another stone, you get to pick your surgeon. Picking your surgeon is a good thing.
