looking for a quality, inexpensive spotting scope for .22 F-Class matches. We shoot at 50 and 100. Problem is the bull's are the NRA targets with black centers. Spotting holes is hard even with a 20X rifle scope. X/10 ring is about 1" at 100yrds.

60X a good choice?

SO, I dont need a swaro, Nightforce, etc.

it also needs to be on a short tripod so I can "spot" while prone, not cominf off the rifle much.

Thanks

What does "inexpensive" equate to? The Athlon Argos 20-60x85 HD - 45 Degree Spotting Scope would serve you well and is not an expensive unit. It would be our pleasure to discuss different options with you if you'd like to give a call.

This is obviously hit or miss, but I picked up a pretty decent spotting scope from Craigslist last year. It was ten years old, but in good shape. I only paid $30 for it.

Another source might be Goodwill. Here's a link to a Goodwill auction site: https://www.shopgoodwill.com/
A search for "Spotting Scope" turned up several, some of which might be suitable for your needs.

I have two unwritten rules:
1.
2.

Inexpensive and high magnification is asking for disappointment.

I can't imagine you'd have any trouble spotting holes at 100 with my 11-33 Razor. It's stupidly good glass for the money. They run around $500 used.
