I can't stand the way coffee tastes out of a stainless cup. My wife has a porcelain one but it doesn't fir in a cup holder. Tired of using the cheap plastic jobs and Styrofoam sloshes. What's out there?

The trick is to not wash the stainless cup.

Moved this weekend and my mom was over and disgusted by the appearance of my favorite coffee cup, so she washed it. Coffee dont taste right, it will take a week or so.

Tervis tumblers. Been around for years. Double walled plastic tumblers - hot hot and cold cold.

they were the best for a long time.

I don’t taste a difference between drinking black coffee from a stainless mug and a porcelain mug. If you add milk or creamer, stainless retains a nasty taste even after thorough washing and rinsing.

+1 for Tervis. Academy carries them, I think also Bed/Bath/Beyond, possibly Target.

I used an Allsups tavel mug for years. It won't fit inmost cup holders, I had a piece of 2x8 that I cut a hole to fit the cut that sat on the seat to hold it. Tied in place the cup would not fall evenafter slamming on the brakes.

Agree with this....been using the same Yeti for my morning coffee every day for probably 7-8 years, I love that cup. The inside is stained almost brown and even when washed won't come clean, but it very rarely gets washed...just rinsed out and put back on the shelf.

I thought about getting one of those s.s. jobs but now I don't know...do they foul up the taste of everything or just coffee?

Soak it in a heavy white vinegar/water mixture for a while. Rinse really well. It’s most likely the detergent that you run in your dishwasher that’s giving the weird taste.

Maybe pour some coffee in it and let it sit a day. Some times when I buy a new coffee maker it has a plastic tats the, I’ll make coffee then fill the water chamber with coffee and make more coffee. Running coffee through the entire machine seems to help kill the plastic flavor

High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

Just rotate daily, coffee in the morning then whiskey after 5pm. No extra aftertaste.

They don't seem to bother a good single-malt Scotch...when proper crystal isn't an option. laugh (And you need a lid to keep the bugs from going after the sugar.)

I rarely take coffee on the road, but I have a couple of gimme stainless things that do alright. 'Also have a Tervis, but always have cold water or tea in it.

I've brought this up before, but remember the tumbler "research", with live updates of course, that some guys would do on here? roflmao Those were the days! (And Yeti's heyday. rofl) (Full disclosure: all my stainless is from Walmart, or given to me as a promotional item. shocked )

I have a few stainless cups that I regularly drink black coffee in. I only noticed a bad taste once. At a VRBO when I washed it, it tasted like dish detergent for over a week. Got home and washed it twice and finally got the bad taste out. Maybe it is the detergent that messes with the taste.

Stainless steel cup is like cast iron frying pan, never use detergent ,, just rinse in scalding hot water.

Hasn’t been washed in 2 years. I don’t have that problem of coworkers taking it and using for themselves.

I’ve had a couple of these over the past 12 years. First one got left on a tool box then drove off. Realized what I did and went back looking for it but it had been run over crying I had just gotten it seasoned.

Had this replacement for almost 10 years. Only been “washed” once when my lovely bride “did me a favor” and washed it for me.....she won’t make that mistake again!

Perfectly seasoned.....purchased at a Loves truck stop. Don’t know if they still sell them but figure they should.
