Who makes the most reliable, quality timed protein feeders.
Also for those who uses these type of feeders I'd be interested in your thoughts and experience with them. Seems there's Lamco, Ranch King and HB.

Thanks

I always thought they had an upside for those wanting to stay on a budget and get deer used to coming when you wanted. I never really put any research into it so I’m curious about responses. I noticed STx was using them recently and I didn’t notice if he said why, so hopefully he will chime in.

I like the Krivoman timed feeder. Been using them since they came out.

I'm looking for the same thing. There is aoudad on the place, so I'd like to add 'robust' to the list of requirements. I have called and left a message twice at Lamco - no returned call. Anyone know why?

There are a lot of the timed protein feeders on the market. I have seen and used Lamco and they are well made. They have a rain sensor on them and a lot of trough space. Ranch King are well made with a lot of trough space. Both Lamco and Ranch King are going to set you back quite a bit. Foreverlast makes a trough feeder also...it is a corn feeder size hopper with a shoot off of each side that feed into a small elevated trough. All Season makes a 600# and 1000# timed protein feeder. The 600 has less trough space but the feed is protected from the rain. The 1000# has more trough space that is covered but also recessed for more antler clearance. Both All Season models are well thought-out and made well. Priefert MFG makes a true trough feeder that opens at a time you set and closes at a time you set...it is free choice while it is open. It has a rain sensor to shut the trough if it senses moisture....these are very expensive but work well if you want to limit feed. Outback offers the heaviest built and exotic tough trough feeder. It is on skids and little more difficult to fill with bags but fine with a feed trailer. They are going to be the most expensive. Timed protein feeders give you a lot of options and you can work on a budget. If you work your feeding times right and at night you can just about feed mainly bucks(if you have a good buck to doe ratio). Some areas you can also pattern your deer early with timed protein. I like to feed multiple times at night to keep the bucks moving on my place and to feed numbers of them. You can do a lot on a budget if you can concentrate on feeding the bucks only and you have good habitat that can support the herd well in wetter periods. You can then up your feeding times and rates in drier times to your budget.
All of the feeders have their + and - points.
