I broke down and bought one to see if it would help. I can’t believe it. I was getting eaten alive and this stopped all of that. Academy wants $19.95 for a twelve hour refill. Anything I can do to get a safe refill cheaper?

Not that it does you any good right this moment, but watch the stores in the fall when bug season ends. I pick up those little butane refills on clearence pretty often.

I've heard the refills for the butane hair dryers are the same thing and usually much cheaper. There are ways to refill the small tanks from the can of butane you buy in the grocery store to refill cigarette lighters, and I've done this successfully myself. Lots of videos on the Tube. Hope this helps.

Don’t want to hijack your post, but do those things actually work? I’ve had one for about 5 years. Tried it once and thought I couldn’t tell any difference. Maybe I need to give it another shot.

They absolutely work but it does take them a few minutes to get the pads up to proper temp to get the active ingredient to effectively work.

They work like magic. The biggest issue that people have with them is trying to use them in wind. They do not do well in windy conditions.

Thanks for the feedback. I have a bunch more questions. I’ll start a separate thread.

I wouldn’t hunt in bow season if they didn’t work.

Mine work well. I also refill on my own the butane tanks. Easy and cheap.
