Hello All,

As most of y'all must be in full prep for the deer season! For me, as I am pretty new to hunting, I wanted to ask if anyone knows decent places where I can hunt rabbits around Houston area?( a couple hour drive is fine). Any tips and suggestions or if anyone is feeling generous to mentor or let me tag along will be appreciated. Thank you!

Adel Darvish.

welcome to the forum, best bet is to find a friend that knows or has a place to hunt

Yeah I agree, rabbits aren’t widely hunted in Texas. Best bet is public land or find a friend

One of the most fun hunts a fellow can have, 3-5 beagles, 2-3 buddies and let the fun begin. In my younger days ( 60 years ago) I spent a lot of time behind a pack of beagles. Some great eating also, a young rabbit and chicken fry it with gravy & biscuits, make you slap yo mama.

Gum Slough, shotgun only. It’s a start:

Or, click the link below, click on public hunting, then click on map of public hunting areas. Then you can zoom in on the area where you live and find a lot more. Link:

I was just looking into rabbit today and I see that Sam Houston Forest also has rabbit. I don't know jack about populations but its another place to check. Doesn't say anything about shotgun only so if you are using rimfire looks like you should be okay.
