Did some grilling tonight.
Tried some new seasoning.
Hardcore Carnivore Black on Sandhill crane.
Hardcore Carnivore Red on pheasant.
It was pretty tasty.
Also grilled chicken, pablano, and cheese sausage,as well as some hot links.
Salad and steamed broccoli to go with it.

agree, I've never bought into the ribeye in the sky phrase.

how is that black seasoning? saw it at academy the other day, and see it used on here from time to time.

The way I cook it, taste real similar to a good steak.
Seasoning is good, a little salty.
Taste about like salt, pepper, garlic to me.

That all looks great.

I haven't had but a few sandhills to cook, but they were all good. The first one I smoked the others were grilled. I prefer it to pheasant but will not turn pheasant down.

Crane is fantastic, as is pheasant. I got six crane steaks in the freezer from three I shot last year, waiting on all the guys to make it to the deer lease at the same time so we can grill them up. Can’t wait! Great looking food by the way!

They just opened a season for Crane here. First time ever.

I've heard the ribeye of the sky comments as well as heard the crane recipe which includes a rock of similar weight which ends with you tossing the crane and eating the rock.

Haven't ever had a chance to eat crane, pheasant or dove. So I'm not sure what to think.

How do they compare to Snows. I have eaten Snows, don't care for them.

I like my waterfowl roasted old school. grain fed, shot, plucked, gutted, stuffed and dry roasted. Could eat four specs or Mallards in one go done up that way, but would it work for crane?.

Do for yourself as much as you can, eat what nature provides as much as you can. This is the key to sleeping well and living long.

I have had people tell me the rock or cedar plank recipe/joke about all kind of wildlife.
I have had people tell me certain game is trash, not fit to eat.
Wild hogs, javelina, ducks, turkey, aoudad, sandhill crane, white bass, catfish are all on the list of game people have told me are not fit to eat. I’ve found if cleaned and taken care of properly, and cooked right, they are all good eating.
On the crane I usually just grill it like a steak and it’s good eating. My dad has made k-bobs out of them and he said they are good. Not for sure about any other cooking methods.

Cranes are just as good as Mallards, or Specs, try cooking them like Bravo does.
