My 7.3 has 306,000 miles & is running better than ever. I know, based on my drag racing days, that something is soon to break when everything is working right.

What would you say is the life expectancy of the totally stock 7.3 injectors on a motor that has been driven modestly?

Original injectors with 300k+ miles? That’s amazing! Had a ‘99 7.3 that had 20 injectors replaced by 50k. 2 sets of 8 and 4 singles.

I would assume fuel quality and system maintenance has a lot to do with it.

If your not the original owner I wouldn't assume they are original. On the other hand, knock on wood, we have never had to replace injectors on any of our diesel trucks. Change fuel filters when your suppose to and buy fuel from big stations with high turn over.

First injectors went out at 10,000 miles. All replacements were covered under warranty. Known issue with that year model. Also had injector issues with ‘03 6.0 when driven off the lot til replaced on my own dime at 160k. Was told they were bad, right after warranty ran out. No help from Ford that time.

Sounds like someone stuck a 7.3 sticker on a 12valve Cummings grin

I personally try to take it to 400k. At this point why not.

I agree. If I make it to close to 400,000 I will consider myself fortunate.

I bet it makes it. Pretty cool it’s still trucking along.

I’d drive it til it breaks. Just not a long way from home.

I’ve worked on a bunch of the T444e engines, that’s the commercial version of the 7.3 psd

I’ve seen very few injectors actually fail, it’s typically the o-rings or the wrong oil that lead to problems.

They typically worn you before they leave you on the side of the road with very hard starts in cold weather.

Yeah, that's what my trusted mechanic told me today. Wonder where I gotta go to find that in Texas? cool

Leave it sitting for about 48 hours with lows at or below 49 degrees

200k is the recommended replacement interval.

You will notice a significant difference in performance, economy and noise.

I got 413,000 miles out of mine in a 2001 before I replaced them a few months ago out of precaution. Now if only I could figure out why the truck handles like crap then I'd be really happy.

Probably time to rebuild the front end.

My 01 front end needed rebuilt every 150.000 with a factory front bumper.

I squeezed 250,000 out of my original front end suspension.

255k on my 01. Had an injector quit a while back. It’s been parked. Time to fix and sell.
