On the front of the license, in the center where your name and address are located, there is a big single digit number. Anyone know what the number means?

Just noticed that, mine has the number 2 on it. Now I'm curious.

That's the calendar year the license expires.

That is correct and if you look at your last years license, it will have a #1 on the front.

This seems a little bit like over redundancy to me. The 2 is only 1" above the 8/31/22 expiration date.

I've been checked on the water a few times and they usually just ask me to hold up my license. I think that let's the warden see from a distance that it isn't expired.

When I would buy my Combo license I would tear all the Deer & Turkey tags off as I was only fishing at the time. Got checked at the boat dock & the warden warned me that each of the missing deer tags was a potential violation as there was no log book entries to match. Learned my lesson that day.

ntxtrapper, when you buy gas, do you trickle the pump and stop it at the next whole number? If so, I fully understand... cheers

Never heard of doing that but its the type thing I would be liable to do.

Always on an even or a 5. Credit card use or should I say misuse is easier to detect.

True...but it is MUCH larger and easier to see. Remember a warden might be checking a license after dark or in the cab of his vehicle, etc....

It's just a quick, easy way for the warden to confirm the expiration date. It isn't put there for sake of the license holder.
