For those who have yet to pick one up, the old paragraph format for listing seasons and bag limits by county that appeared in past versions of the TPWD Outdoor Annual have been replaced with charts that include dots, symbols, and multiple legends. IMO, the level of confusion by those who had trouble with the old format is sure to grow greatly once people start trying to figure out the rules for their county using this Annual. Should also make for a few campfire debates.

In the "old" world of illustration for learning, these new charts would have been considered "too busy". Or maybe they just didn't consider old farts like me.

Well that's the way of things these days
It doesn't matter if something works just fine.
Change needs to happen, usually to justify somebody's job
and so they can say that " this change came about because
of the practices that I instituted "
It happens these days in every aspect of life in America.
Doesn't matter if it was change for the better or not

The app for your phone is much more reader friendly.

If getting people to use the app rather than the printed version is their goal, I would say they've made a good move.

I don't see anything new here. they've been using the same chart for years. I remember these same charts back in the 70's.

i liked it much better when each county had it written out in the back of the book. this chart stuff sucks

I was thinking the same thing also. Just did not have the AR's and CWD BS back then though.

Sometimes I think they make it more difficult on purpose. I know that’s not true, but it’s easier to write citations when things are confusing.

to issue and stick with it forever plus 10 days
If it's a decent format it doesn't need to be
radically changed up every year, just the dates
and limits if not the same

I should also add that there always needs to be a
printed book available for free for people like me
that don't have a smartphone surgically attached
to their hand.

It appears to be the same size but not completely sure.

Whatever the case, I’m sure the decision to replace the earlier format with charts was an effort to save paper, since going paperless has been all the rage for some time now. I also feel safe speculating that the only reason why the printed version is being made available again is because a major Texas magazine publisher returned to paying for most if not all the cost. Once they stop doing that for good, you can surely kiss the printed version goodbye.

Even in your picture I could make out the regulations for my county. I like the ap on my phone better though.

I dislike it much more that my Credit union has to update their web page multiple times a year.

The book won't be smaller due to press formats, thinner maybe.

I don't remember it that far back, but that's the way i always remember it.
