I'm thinking about picking up a road feeder. The best ones appear to be All Seasons, Spintech and possible the Lamco. Most feedback suggests that the cheaper options aren't worth trying, but I'm open to suggestions.

Which one is the most durable, reliable and easiest to use?

I have 3 Foreverlast from Academy I've been running for years without a single issue. Only about $100 but they only hold 50#.

Same here I’ve had one for a couple years now with no issue. Got mine from Academy but I’ve seen them on Amazon as well.

Have used several cheap Foreverlast road feeders from Academy for years with no issues except for 3 years ago, someone borrowed my buggy at the lease and the Eliminator Spinner fell apart feeding roads.

As far as durable I'm a fan of All Seasons feeders.

Choose between 50 and 100 pound Lamco. I have the 50. It's not a cost issue between the two, it's if you want capacity or a more easy to use size. It's just not that hard to carry a couple extra sacks with me.

I have 100lbs all seasons, it's bullet proof.

Really comes down to how and what you are using it on. If I was using it on my everyday vehicle I'd go lamco due to empty weight Being much lighter then the Allseason(assuming you are going to take it off and leave it at the ranch)

If I was going to leave it on a vehicle, I'd go all seasons.

* by all season I mean Hercules.

I currently have a homemade one that is 20 yrs old. 75# capacity and lost the lid to it years ago now. So it has a homemade lid and replaced the motor/spinner plate with a homemade setup. It works but don't look pretty. I have used 50# to 200# All Season and they top of the line. What you will want depends a lot on what you are using it on....ATV, UTV, jeep or truck. They heavy built models are almost to much weight for some ATV or UTV's. The taller models are to tall to be on the back of any vehicle if you need to let the tailgate down to access the bed. Low profile is better for those. Some mount a feeder on the front but I prefer to mount one on the rear receiver hitch due to grain dust. I do not want it blowing into the radiator or into my face but it is out of the way when mounted on the front. I am going to buy a Foreverlast from Tractor Supply. They also sell the receiver hitch as an option. I like the cupped spinner plate on the Foreverlast vs the other style spinner plates. I have the same spinner plate on my road feeder....I made 20 yrs ago.

Texas Hunter Products also makes a heavy duty one. (That's what I have.) But, the spinner isn't a positive shut off when not in use, and, they're mostly down here (San Antonio); 'don't know if they have distribution around Dallas. Very nice guys when you walk in though. Their blinds have never been known for quality, but they have a few decent products.

Can anyone recommend a store in north dfw (McKinney, Frisco, Denton) that might carry road feeders, other than Academy? I'd really prefer to buy something like this in person.

Same here

I've had the one on my side by side now at least 10 years and if I had a penny for every pound of corn it has slung I could buy about 100 more of em. lol

No doubt it is not the best or heaviest built one on the market but the price is right for sure.

I ultimately went with the Lamco 50lb road feeder. I’ll post an update after I use it a few times.

Won’t regret it. Have had mine for a decade. Only problem is how to store it. Finally figured it out when I had to replace motor because shaft was bent. I sit on mine when no seat around. Very sturdy.

Road feeders thirty years ago were coffee cans.

I have two home made road feeders; one is 9 years old and the other one is almost three years old and this will be the first season the newer one gets much use. The 9 year old can finally effectively maneuver a 50 pound sack of corn and he has fun throwing it on the ground from the bed of the truck. The almost 3 year old will be using a can; he is not quite as good as his 9 year old brother, but they both get the job done.

Best road feeders available.

Do the deer still come as quickly without the road feeder noise??

30 years ago I would have a 50lb sack in my lap while driving slow and dribbling out the window.

I have an ASF 100 lb. feeder that I put on the front of my Kubota. It has never come off in 2 1/2 years. My wife has Parkinson's and when she can get out, I load up the feeder and off we go. It's air conditioned so she is comfy, and she knows when to push the buttons. Often times I will carry another 100 lbs. of corn and really put her to work. She enjoys being out when she can. That alone makes me justify that feeder. When time permits we circle back so she can see the deer and javalinas on the corn. Then when the grandkids show up, it's corn, .22 shells, and grandpa can we do this and that!!

I set a 5 gallon bucket of corn on the seat then used a 1# coffee can to feed and in areas with a lot of deer, I used the mega sized 3# coffee can way back in the early 80's.

In the 80's we just put a couple 55 gal drums in the back of Dad's old hunting truck, and would pull up to the hoppers at the Co-op and fill them up. I was the road feeder scooping/trickling corn with a coffee can when I got the signal LOL. I loved that job.

I feel out Whataburgered, but do realize restaurant peoples have lots of money. Let me guess, you fed black eyed peas.

It was a high water mark day when I broke down and got my first one. I was in tall cotton. After using it, you wondered why you didn't do it sooner.. It was a Spin Cast model and I still have it as a back up.

I’m 3 days into 4 at lease so behind on my forum posting.
Hud, not sure what out Whataburgered means but I doubt it happens to you often and never by me.
I wish you and your shimbawsya weed eating thingy were along for this ride(getting old).
