I checked a trail camera where I normally get good bear footage this weekend. I got some decent bear activity until one bear ripped my camera off the tree. Luckily the camera kept recording!

Bigger bear.

They are habitual camera vandals. All my cameras are in steel lock boxes lagged to the tree with 4x 8 inch by 5/16 inch lag anchors designed for attaching mooring cleats to docks or same sized Timberlok structural anchors.

Never violate a woman, nor harm a child. Do not lie, cheat or steal. These things are for lesser men. Protect the weak against the evil strong. And never allow thoughts of gain to lead you into the pursuit of evil.

Bears are definitely curious buggers. I used metal lock boxes and python cables on all my cameras when I lived in Black Bear country. Never had a camera destroyed, but had a lot of pictures of open mouths, paws and noses.
