We have a feeder in the yard, and it goes off at 6:30 pm. But, I throw some additional corn out usually around 4:30. I was late today, and as I walked to the Kubota to go over and chunk some corn, there was a doe watching me from the edge of the woods. “Where’s my corn” I think she was thinking. Well, she wandered off into the woods. I drove over to the feeder and threw out a good bit of corn, and as I started to climb back into the Kubota, I looked up. Here came the doe at nearly a full gallop, right at me. She slid to a stop maybe 25 yards from me and stood there till I drove off, then she hit the corn like a fat kid on a donut. That must be some mighty good corn…

The yard is a no- hunt zone, insists the wife. Armadillos and coons are shootable, and squirrels, if they are in the bird feeders. And hogs and coyotes. But noooo deer. I used to shoot skunks, but had a few awful downwind experiences. Skunks walk now.

The wife loves her yard deer. And she loves venison, but tries to not think about where that comes from.

It’s all good. I love it out here in the country.

Reminiscent of stories I have heard about oil traders going in to Rick's with a wallet loaded with cash.

Well trained deer at our house also, same rules for hunting too. They will walk away when I go to trip the feeder an extra time and almost run me down for their corn fix.

Yep Hudbone, I was there. I did that. Fun, it was. There was this little redhead named Grace…but only table dances.

You want to know how to get rid of a bunch of strippers? Put away the charge card in your wallet, look up and they are gone. So fast, you might think they weren’t even there.

Used to get a lot of Japanese visit us to discuss oil cargoes. Ask them where they wanted lunch, and it was always “Licks”. So off to Licks we’d go.

Those could have been considered the good old days. Always had to remember though that all that was just smoke and mirrors and not a life.

Got off my own topic, didn’t I? I’ll blame it on you…

These fat deer will wind up at one of the feeders in the ‘hunting areas’ sooner or later. I don’t discuss this with the wife.

Was mowing on the tractor yesterday and passed by the protein feeders on our place. Two young bucks in the pen, one wasn't even bothered enough to take his nose out of the feeder to look at me. The other just stared as I went by.

Tolerance is the virtue of a man without conviction.

The end of the world began the day it was created, and life is a sexually transmitted terminal disease.
