FYI -- Lumber Futures are less than 1/3 what they were a few months ago. Home Depot shows 7/16 OSB (waferboard) at $28.00. It was $48.00 a few months ago. I imagine with other lumber yards and quantity purchases that better prices can be found.

The Futures markets take a while to affect shelf prices, but prices are coming down. You can click on different time frames at the bottom and look at historical prices.

Spot price is also lower. Plywood still high as a pigeons pecker but most everything else lumber wise is headed the right way.

Good news for the buyer. Bad news for the seller.

I'm still holding out. My lumber package has only come down about 22% from a 300% increase.

I have been checking treated 2x4's and 2x6's prices the last month and they were down around 40% late last week. I know plywood is still high but coming down. A friend got prices on 1/2 and 3/4" 5 weeks ago an it was over $70 per sheet. Then two weeks later it was still the same price. The next week it dropped to $45 on the 3/4 and $43 on the 1/2. I think some of the larger retail lumber outlets are still sitting on large inventories that are holding prices up. As they sell down they will drop prices accordingly or be priced out of the market by competitors in my area.

Copper needs to come down.

Still way too high.

About 6-8 weeks left in hurricane season. If there aren’t any large, devastating storms I’d bet the prices come down a lot.
