I am taking a year off of serious south texas hunting - so I found a little 300 acre place near Marble Falls for me and my grandkids - nice cabin, great fishing, etc. So this guy shows up on camera several weeks ago - not fully grown out yet - 12 point - cannot wait to be with one of the grandkids when they lay this guy down- not bad for hill country - life is good - amazing how your prospective changes the older you get!

cheers I judge deer based on where they live and not against deer in other areas. That is really good buck for Hill Country and even rarer 6x6 typical frame. The rains up in the Hills were spotty but those select "spots" seemed to get rain over and over again. Very timely rains also.

Awesome deer. Hope you get a gk on him.
Have a friend that’s been hunting some property near Marble Falls for 30yrs...in last 10-12yrs he’s taken 3 really nice deer. One 5x6 taping 159 and a clean 144 8pt....

High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

Tlk, are you taking a break from South Texas because of the border situation?

The area around Click south of 71 between marble falls and llano produces some bigger than average deer for the hill country.

Don’t know if this is where the place is at.

Great looking deer

Had a new 5 year lease agreed on with LO and at last minute guy came in and offered crazy money to take over the lease. He asked me to stay on and I said "no thank you" -

In retrospect it was for the best as the ranch is near Eagle Pass and the border and is being overrun with traffic much of which is drug related. They have broken into the camp and mobile homes there multiple times and destroyed a lot of stuff in camp - so it ends up being a blessing - will have fun with grandkids on the new place

tlk, that pic from the back side seems to show he has a good bit of growing left to do. What date was that one?

Great buck for anywhere especially that country

That area is gonna have bigger than avg. deer. There was a ranch I used to visit from time to time between round mountain and Johnson City north of the river in the Sandy area....it was not unusual to see 150" deer. The Pedernales River valley west of 281 has the biggest deer in that entire region.

That would be where we are - beautiful piece of property - year round creek runs through it with nice cabin. Also lots of turkey - Should be fun
