So, I have started building a pen/trap around my feeder at the old home place where I hunt. It will be an oval roughly 40 x 50'. Currently it has one end open toward the house and kitchen window I shoot from. The far end has cattle panels, sides have some hog panels for deer entry. I built this about the time fawns started hitting the ground, so I left the one end open to allow the hogs to get used to it also. Have not had pics of hogs but once since. A litter or two of little ones, no larger hogs in the pics. Deer love it.

It's been raining regularly, so the grass is knee to waist high (which has considerably slowed the masked bandit thinning). I pulled up and parked in the pen between the barn and house, and see 3 35-40 # youngsters running and jumping and feeding. I unlock and go into the house. I collect the .22 I keep there, slide open the kitchen window and they are still there doing their thing. They stop and one starts to exit the pen on the open end presenting a broadside shot, so I send it a LRHP and see the other two have decided to run through the cattle panels.

Well, they are just a bit too big to make it all the way through, so I take the shot available, and I guess the sting in the butt prevents them from backing out, so I give them each a couple more, walked out and gave them one in the brain to finish. The first one made it about 30 yds before he ran out of air.

If you find yourself feeling useless, remember it took 20 years, trillions of dollars, and four presidents to replace the Taliban with the Taliban.

Sometimes the Universe puts you in the same situation again to see if you’re still a dumbass.

…and a good time was had by all!

Except for the pigs, but nobody asked them.
