This twas beest grouping, bullseye tis blurring in scope...

confused2 thought new scopes came factory set for 100yrds ?
First 3 shots were low, (70 clicks up) & (50 clicks right)...
Way off.... walked it in...
Groups were close (2outa3) were touching with one stray roughly 2"...
Had an bounce fun time, started getting warm out...

Had trouble down loading...
The black dot covered the 3 previous shots...

There are way too many variables in a scope, scope mounts, rifle, etc. to have a factory set for a scope. That's why you bore sight.

Good scopes come with the reticle in the center of adjustment. Cheap, crappy scopes? Not.

cheers must have bought some good cheap scops in past..
Did mostly open sights, 30-30 put cheap 3x9 scope (very few clicks) minor adjustment.
Me 243 & 270 Savage came with scopes. Upgraded on the 243
Minor (clicks) adjustments....

Pard bout an expensive on for his AR it was way off...
i bout a cheaper scope (same brand) it twas off, scratch twas having troubles with old scope, tis thinking reason ....

cheers do appreciate all the info, comments...

confused2 just never had that big of adjustments on new rifle & scope...

Mostly friendly computition shooting, maybe yotes, gophers, prairy dog...

Stay safe...

Let me re-phrase.

The purveyor of a package gun (sold with the scope mounted when the gun is shipped) MIGHT bore-sight the scope, but they'd have no way of knowing what load you''ll use. Whether that scope shoots to point of aim once mounted on your gun is an unknown.

The quality of the rings and bases have a lot to do with whether the scope is aligned with the bore. Are the screw holes in the receiver aligned with the bore? Is everything tightened to spec (and LocTited properly)? Is your scope tube straight?

In over forty years of buying guns, I've never seen a factory package gun sold with high-quality optics; they are usually sold with lower-tier optics like Tasco, Bushnell Banner, Simmons, CenterPoint, et al.

Buy once, cry once.

Not doughting your texts.
Just stating my experience.
First scope in pic was a Tasco 4x18 (?not sure fiirst #'er) 50mm.
Didnt shoot scopr 50mm too big. Price $89.00...

Replaced it with a Simmons 4x12 40mm, price $99.00 both came with rings...
Fost shots were way off..
Other scopes had bought (for the 30-30 & 243) were pretty close ta bore sight...

Just my experiance...
