This is "Ghost". He got his name because he only showed up at night on trail cams. He was my target buck. Of course after the season he showed up in my yard and stayed for about 30 minutes munching corn. Seems he made it thru last season and I am curious about his age....still growing or past prime? My apologies, these are the best photos I [Linked Image]

have of him.

Solid deer, but I don't believe he is post mature. Curious to see what others age him.

Post rut bucks do not look that old at first glance. He has some staining and scalding on his back legs and he is setting down on his front hooves. You generally see this on 5+ yr old bucks. The actual tarsal gland size does not match a 5+ yr old buck though. I would call him a 4 yr old and would not argue if someone said 5 though. He is leggy even for that time of the season.

pronounced sternum (some say brisket) would indicate 5 1/2 to me. That guy has a very nice look. Fingers are crossed for you.

I'd call him 5.5 this past year and no more.
I'm not seeing anything that indicates post mature

High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

Going with 4.5 to 5.5, should be a good one this year.

I'd say 4-5 and give him 2 years if possible for him to make it. He should be a warhorse though this season with all the rain.

I don't see the block head...girth is just not there....mass is missing some... missing check drop...shoulders not mature yet....however a great rack for anyone. I would let him walk until he develops some more ...maybe this year though. I call him 3 1/2 but would agree all the above notations.
