I'm a purist. Room temp, salt, pepper and a hot grill most of the time. Recently had one of the better tasting steaks I've ever ordered, which I rarely do. I like my own. This was at Hotel Turkey, and I had to ask how it was prepped. They use Carnivore Black and cook over a mesquite fire. A quick brush with some garlic butter when it comes off, a rest and boom. This was about 5/8" ribeye, medium rare.

Anyone else use this product? I plan to, on a 10 oz. filet and will apply a few minutes before it hits the grill.[Linked Image]

I don't see any reason to season my beef with charcoal but I see a lot of people using it

I knew it had activated charcoal. If you cook charcoal and like the flavor, it seems that you are "seasoning" with charcoal, as you do with different wood types while smoking. I use a Webber Gas grill for steak, and have missed the charcoal flavor, but not the time and mess from it. It has other spices, has a great flavor, but not an over powering charcoal flavor at all.

I've used it. The charcoal has basically no flavor and is only there for a color additive. Activated charcoal has been all the craze in the Instagram world for a couple of years now. Black pancakes, black cocktails, black syrups, black ice cream, etc. It can turn virtually anything jet black without affecting the taste.

I tried the carnivore black on a steak once. It came out good but seemed like it affected the sear negatively. This could have been because I smoked it for about an hour before searing. The seasoning has a great flavor.

Jess Pryles has a bunch of different Hardcore Carnivore seasonings ... My nephew has turned out some really good meats using some of the varieties but not sure which. Check out some of her videos on YouTube, she does pretty well trying new things.

BTW, this (including the beer) was $35.98. Live music included.

I've tried almost all of her seasonings and they are excellent. The Black is stellar on beef and I highly recommend the Red on pork and chicken, and the Camo on veggies and game meat.

How do you use it on steak? Room temp, apply a few minutes before it hits the grill??? Tell me your process.

Yes, no need to try anything fancy.
