That's the closest range to me unless yous guys know of one closer to Plano

I'm looking for training on five stand. But I wonder if I will be required to take the trap and skeet training also. I don't guess I'd mind, my shooting game has gotten very weak in the past few years. When I was in college and my twenties, I shot all the time and was actually pretty good. Move forward a kid, a divorce and 20 years and I missed a bunch of birds last year.

Any recommendations? I tried five stand and didn't miserably in the spring.

Call Elm Fork and talk to Scott Robertson. Scott has been shooting since probably 5 or 6 years old. He can point you to a great instructor.

David (the owner) at Fossil Pointe is where I'd go for instruction. Good guy and great place...he has a lot harder targets and trickier terrain to play and show you ways target setters can and will "trick" you.

This month starts the month where Elm Fork will set cream puff targets to make the dove shooter warm up feel good. smile

Good luck.

If Fossil point is too far, (Call ahead).

Elm Fork is okay, not sure you can get Scott Robertson on the phone but they do have several instructors. While I was shooting Sporting Clays League there, I saw them teaching. I do know the big, giant fat guy was a D_ _ K to his clients.

If 5 Stand Dan reads your thread he might chime in with a suggestion.

Most of the Instructors are pretty expensive.

Good luck this year!

Can’t speak from experience, and it’s probably a bit of a drive from you, but I know that Alpine Shooting Range also offers some training on clay shooting sports

Travis Mears (Google Him). he's close to The Cabela's in FT Worth (Roanoke)

There is a private club in Rockwall, I think its still there. Too rich for my blood to join.

Travis is out just west of Fort Worth now, he runs the Defender Outdoor Clay Sports Ranch.
