My father made these metal hunting horns in the 40’s and 50’s. Mr. Clyde Dobson had the original of side opposite of both these horns that were used as patterns. Let me know if anyone has one hanging on a mantle somewhere. It would be nice to know that some others have survived the years.

Both of these were cast from molds made from real horns. My father passed in 64'. Mr. Dobson a friend of his, had the real horns that were mates to the the patterns used in the investment molds. My father made the originals for Mr Dobson and himself. I got to use Mr. Dobson's halves in the field a couple times to recall our dogs after my dad's death which I thought was cool.

Those are very interesting treasures. I had a bull horn from Mexico with carving on it when I was just a little guy. It belonged to my Great Grandfather, Erskine Outlaw who made a living by gathering and driving unbranded cattle out of Mexico. He was a houndsman just like most ranchers of that day; ran coyotes with running walker hounds.
I would give anything to still have the horn today.

I still have my Dad's and I also made one from a dead Herford bull I found on a Colorado deer hunt from in the early 80's.
Both are in my Man Cave.

I have 2 cow horns that were military horns, I got them at a market when we lived in Spain. Signal horns used by Spanish soldiers, they both have metal mouthpieces, sort of like a bugle.
