Son in law just got his new Trail 2 XQ50 LRF and it didn't come with a remote. Is the remote an option now? Also as with his old XQ50 his iphone won't connect to Stream Vision with the new Trail2.

No remote. No user manual. Stream vision sucks at best. Great thermal though!

OK. Called another dealer and they said it ships with remote so he needs to make a call and I'm sure they will send him one. My remote is velcroed to the stock of my rifle and I can't live without it especially at night.

SV works great on my Android phone. Take video, convert it, send it out. Every now and then it'll have a brain fart but it always returns to normal.

Well hell. I didn’t get a remote with my Trail 2, and when I talked to the Sightmark/Pulsar rep he said they stopped them for the Trail 2. To be honest, I never used it with my other Pulsar either, but the new Trail 2 is so much different I fumble around a lot .

Maybe Jason will chime in on this, which is where my son in law bought it. Night Vision Guys says it ships with remote.

Hey I just happened to see this. Tell him he should have called or emailed me, I'd have been glad to help.

Pulsar discontinued the remotes with original Trails in December 2019. The Thermions have never had them, nor the Trail 2's. I don't know of any manufacturer's still making remotes anymore. It was something most every thermal had 5+ years ago but they were seldom used, so I guess it was just an easy thing to drop.

If he has any more questions, feel free to have him email or call me.

Thanks!

Jason

They discontinued remotes a couple years ago. Any dealer still saying they do doesn’t know their product. Hardly anyone ever used them anyway.

Thanks for replying Jason. I guess I'm the odd man out. Using the remote in the dark(or in the day for that matter) is so much easier than trying to feel around on the scope when with the remote a simple push on the button and turn to scroll thru the menu. I move the XQ50 quite a bit between my hog gun and my .25 cal air rifle so I check the zero probably more than most people and it goes a lot easier with the remote. IMO Pulsar should have kept it.

FWIW - I have a Trail XP 50 LRF (Dec 2019) and it came with the remote. May have been the last of them.

That's good to know. If I upgrade to the XP I'll look for a used one that has the remote.
Do you use your remote?

I do - but not on hunts. I generally use it during pre-hunt setup or post review. It is a 'nice to have' but I can see why they moved away from it.

Red Stick: Curious on your experience with return to zero when moving between rifles. Do you use a QD mount?

It holds zero very well, especially on the hog gun(300 BO with Barnes 110 gr.) I zero at 80 yards. The air rifle( Kalibrgun Cricket) I'm anal about the zero and if it's a half inch off at 30 yards I make adjustments until it's pretty much hole in hole.(pellets are cheap lol) I have the single lever QD mount. I mark the adjustment wheel on the QD and the rail to make sure they mount in the same place every time and at the same locking torque.
