Had it yesterday at Baylor in Dallas. No chicken wire. Arteries are clear.

Do they still make you lay flat on your back for 8 hours afterwards? I had a catheter ablation better than 20 years ago.

Mine was through the wrist. If you're having a heart attack they go through the groin. I had a stress test that showed a mild blockage and was referred to a surgeon who specializes in radial (wrist) cath. He, however, had some emergency so another one did it. They had both areas shaved and ready and the new guy wanted to go groin but I preferred wrist so they did.

They kept me on an IV since I was dehydrated from the no food or drink prep. I ate some grilled chicken with lettuce, tomatoe and swiss cheese wrapped in a tortilla and drank water. The cath started about 3:30 and I left about 5:45.

I had a heart cath in march of 2004 with 3 stents and I did not. Cath & stents was at about 730 am on a friday, I was back home about 3pm on Sat., 80 miles away from hospital. Got up sunday went to church and my life long buddy showed up Sunday afternoon and we crappie fished the rest of the week.

They went through the groin with me, after thinking about it, I had to stay flat due to the anesthetic block they used. I had accessory pathway, they had to cut the nerve, because it caused a feedback loop racing my heart.

I had a second cath Friday july 10th 2020 and did not get to leave the hospital. Doc said too many blockages and the surgeon came in bout 2 hrs after the cath. 4 bypasses came Monday the 13th. Never had a minutes problem & went home the following Friday. Never needed even a pain pill. They are working miracles now days with the heart.

I've had three since 2016 and am scheduled for another in November. The first was an emergency for treatment of a bi-lateral pulmonary embolism. It dang near killed me before they got started on me but after the procedure, two catheters were left in to target the embolism with drugs to dissolve the clots. The surgeon told my wife there was a strong possibility I would not survive the surgery, let alone the night. I had to lay flat on my back for 15 hours to make sure the catheters stayed on target. My cardiologist does not trust EKGs and insists that by going the heart cath route he is 100% sure of what is going on. After the first one, it's just been an outpatient procedure, go home after about 4 hours and no lifting of anything heavier than a jug of milk for a week.

Very glad you got a good report. I was wearing a Holter monitor for 30 days, when about day 23 they saw something that required an immediate heart Cath. They prepped the groin and wrist and went with the wrist first. I remember waking up saying I was hot, looking at a huge monitor with my heart showing on it. All of the arteries were dark and 100% open, no blockage. I know this was a relief to you, it sure was for me. They put an air up, clear bandage over the place they put the catheter in and came in about every 15 minutes and let out a little bit of pressure till is was completely deflated. Took over an hour, I was a little bit out of it.

Been meaning to get back to this but all the drama!

I was put on a statin last year. Somewhere I read that CoQ10 should be supplemented with statins. When I told my Cardiologist that I was taking 30mg daily he told me to take 100 mg. I also take Omega 3 fish oil. After the cath the surgeon told me to take 200mg daily and keep taking the fish oil.

Just found it interesting and wanted to share.

I had a stent put in my LAD (widow maker) in January. Dr. Said if I would have waited another week I would have died, 99% blockage.

I was told vey lucky to be alive. Did procedure through groin at 3 p.m. home in bed at 10:30 p.m. same day. Could not let me stay overnight due to COVID hospital regulations.

I remember that SD. Are you on statins? Do you take any supplements?

When I had mine done they fully expected blockage and were surprised as how clean my arteries were. They asked me what supplements I was taking and Fish Oil and Vitamin E along with my statin every day. They told me not to change a thing as it was working very well.

You might want to take a look at CoQ10 or talk to your doctor about it.

Went through the groin and found 5 blockages, 40%-95%. Five days later I had by-pass surgery.

Glad they were found before they got any worse.

Me too. That was a rough road, 58 years old when they found it and no family history.

Wow! I guess sometimes a stent just won't do it.
